Real cruise control would be a bit expensive to install aftermarket.

I used the Break Away throttle lock in conjunction with the Kuryakyn throttle boss on my last bike. I plan to install them on my new R3T. They work and they are simple.

There is a wealth of information/resources in the Rocket Resources fourm...
Rocket III Resources - R3Owners.Net

You can run a FlipMeister...
http://www.r3owners.net/custom-mods/2076-installing-50cent-flipmeister-throttle-friction-lock.html
Or if you want to pay more....

Throttlemeister

Vista Cruise
Vista Cruise Universal Cruise Control - Metric Cruisers for Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Nomad
Cramp Buster
http//crampbuster.com/
ThrottleRocker

You'll find a myriad of people on the site that will swear by one or another. For my advice to you is start with the least expensive and work your way up.

(1) the Flipmeister (@$1)
(2) Vista Cruise (@$35)
(3) Cramp Buster (@$35)
(4).... and so on (@ $100 +

If you are looking for a true automotive type, constant speed cruise control, your selections are few. Throttle Locks are Ok, but I also want a true cruise control.

There are a couple of options:
  1. A few Captains have installed an AudioVox vacuum based unit and report that it works well. You have to improvise and come up with your own vacuum bottle solution.
  2. The is a unit marketed by Dakota Digital that is a fully electronic solution. One Captain in Va Beach has one but has not installed it yet. I'm keeping my eye on his solution. Here's the link to it: Cruise Control for Electronic Speedometers
A true cruise control has been probably the #1 issue in feedback to Triumph on the R3/R3T. It is inexcusable that they market a modern "Touring" motorcycle without a factory cruise control. Even their obvious tarket market, the H-D Road King, comes with a cruise control standard on one model and is a ~$350 option on the low end model.

Rant completed for now...

Agreed,

The R3 and the R3T deserves a factory cruise system or it should have been an option at least. it is a Cruiser/Tourer after all.

Guys, don't discount the Aussie MCCRUISE option that CTCruiser first posted.

I had one on a Nomad and it worked brilliantly. Looked and worked like a factory fitted option. I haven't yet read any bad feedback about it. It's a grand for us out here and about $600 for you. If you want a real cruise control as opposed to a throttle lock, they are certainly the way to go, albeit an expensive way to go.

I'm using a Brakeaway at the moment, but will install one of the MCCruise options as soon as funds allow.

Hey Pete how about some pics and some more info on that unit if you can. Like I said I simply stumbled across the site and it looked interesting. So I put it on the board truth is I know nothing about it but It looks like one of the best options Iv'e seen so far and I figured somebody must have seen it before.
