I did buy a tail tidy from "Triumph Custom Parts", and while it will fit the bike OK, it won't stop me getting plastered when it rains. I don't ride in the rain any more, but living in Wales, you are going to get rained on, in spite of what BBC weather tells you. The R3 is a relatively new model, so hoping that somebody will design something sensible to replace the horrific back end, meanwhile, I'll probably do the tail tidy :(. Many thanks for all the replies :)

I had the same wish as you, when I started with my R3.
The TRIK fender works. It's tried & tested, but it isn't to everyone's taste so I made my own solution. It also works and it's to my taste.

When I made it, I didn't have any intention of producing it for anyone else.
This isn't the first component i've designed and made for my bikes, and I know from experience low volume production is always more costly and 99% of people don't want to pay the price at that level of production.
TRIK have made the leap from design to production and have managed to make it work commercially for them (I assume).
If you must have a better solution on your bike, I encourage you to consider the TRIK product.
The Corbin one could end up being too short for your practical needs, or as Gimlet questions, might give clearance problems with our UK licence plates, so it's a bit of a gamble.

That looks great, did you make the mudguard itself?, can you describe the process?
