I have just replaced water pump on my R3T a bit of a task lining up the pump drive blade with the pump ,I took the front cover off the pump so I could turn the impeller to engage the blade the back hose is a PITA to fit unless you lubricate the pipe and slip the hose all the way up to cleat the pump then pull it back down then the worm drive radiator hose clamps fit into a groove in the block and wont slip down with the hose
however after a bit of a wrestle I got it all back together and ever so slowly I refilled the Radiator with new HOAT coolant watching for coolant to exit the breather hole (with the plug removed )above the thermostat
alas no coolant then the radiator was full I replaced the radiator cap half filled the recovery tank and ran the bike till the thermo fan cut in ,waited till the bike cooled checked the breather hole still no coolant flowing out :unsure:the system took 3 litres of the claimed 3.2 litres so I think I have 200mls of air somewhere in the system I will take the bike out to morrow and see if there recovery tank is drained after cooling
has anyone else had the situation
sorry about the long winded post but it may be a heads up to anyone planning on this job

I agree with Pedro but use a wire about as stiff as a paper clip so you can bend it a little to feel around. My 06 head had the casting plug shift so the bleeder hole is just a threaded hole into the head. while my 07 head had the slit in the casting for the air to pass out. So Bleeding the 06 is a wee bit of a hassle. I just keep a eye on her until she works the air out. much like your doing. I also do a lot of leaning and tilting of the bike to try to get as much air out when I fill her.

Just thinking the bike was on the side stand and the radiator was on an angle so part of the radiator top tank would have been above the filler ,I will level the bike up and see if it takes any more fluid

Bingo all good ,took the bike out yesterday for our coffee run with the boys, filled the radiator recovery tank before leaving after a run down the Freeway and a bit of a climb up to our Café ,we stopped after the bike had cooled down the radiator drew the recovery tank almost dry topping up the empty spaces , I have just topped the tank to between the low and high indicators, hopefully the cooling system is now completely full
