O.K. I've been reading this thread with interest.
Same topic, but different switch, can I eliminate the side stand switch ?
Yea' I know all about the "safety" issues, but this is the first bike in 45 years of riding that has one, have never had a problem in the past.

Yes ,up by the connector cut and the outside wires and splice them together eliminate the center wire.

i had engine running kick stand down got off the bike to close the gate and got my size 11 on the shifter and it killed the engine before it rode off the stand. without the switch me and my bike would have taken a nice ride in the carport.

It is there as a safety device to prevent you trying to start it while in gear and ending up on your arse, so it depends on whether you are careful to make sure you are in neutral when starting
Hello. My switch has come totally loose from the handlebar and the pin even detached. Other posters have commented that because the current for the fuel indication flows through this switch, the indicator will fail if the switch has issues. My fuel indicator is kaput. Thus far, I can not find reference in the manual as to how it works and how to restore. Any ideas?

I would be wondering if the signal from the clutch switch performs anything else bedides the saftey aspect. Especially with the newer ecu's. Not that it wouldn't run but it would suck if it stayed on the neutral map.
I have been told that my fuel indication failure is related to this switch. My switch has become totally detached and fuel indication is inop.

I bet you can. Might even be able to do it with the clutch ya just need to figure out if it send or controls a neutral signal to the ecu. Hopefully it doesn't.

Wow Warp! that question was asked quite some time ago.
The answer is, I removed that side stand switch a couple of years ago, no problems what so ever.
I've been thinking of pulling the Clutch switch as well, just haven't gotten around to it.
I guess the easy answer is just to unplug it and see what happens.
