We're comparing your orange to my apple here, on the Rocket 3 TOURING the stock shield has lowers and already does a decent job of slowing the air. An even better one with the taller and wider Clearview main shield.

Your 2005 can't be a Touring since they only came out in 2008, so you need to figure out how to get lower wind deflectors on it as well.

Easy enough to miss what forum you're in when you read from the "new threads" list etc, but I just wanted to make everyone aware that shields on the R3T and shields on the R3-everything-else is not the same discussion.

The R3T has a decent shield when you buy it, but it usually needs to be taller to get the helmet out of the wind blast. But it also comes with the lowers that also helps steer the wind to the sides. The other R3's probably need some kind of solution for lower wind deflectors also, as you've noted.

there is a thread on here that has a lay out and instructions on how to make your own lowers. I believe it was placed on here by Rocket Sicencetis or Phil, can't remember. there's also someone here that used a set of Harley chrome lowers that look good. you have to adapt them some but it doesn't look to difficult.

Does anyone have a torque setting for the 10mm nuts?

Most likely a 6mmX1.5 bolt.
Likely 3-5 ft lbs

@HansO What size is that? I'm considering a taller screen, but not sure how much taller I'd want. I'm 6'3" and with the stock windshield my head is completely in the airstream over the top. makes for a very noisy ride.
Also, how has the vent worked out for you? I'm not sure how effective it'd be on hot days if the extra cost would be worth it.

You might get a helper and run a string from your eyes to the pavement 30 feet in front of you wheel.
Then measure from the top of your headlights up to the string.

Gday, I have the Clearview 23" with vent and recurve (get these). I'm 6'4" and am pretty happy with it. Only complaint, and its not the screen, the visor on my helmet is lose and it rattles it as I ride, if i use my open or close face helmet its superb.
Important thing to remember is that you need to be able to see just over the top of the screen for when its raining at night, I made adjustable mounts so it can easily be lowered for this.
Problem with trying to upload a picture of something called a clearview is its hard to see....

You may wish to move that shield down closer to the headlights . . .

Not at all; Very good picture. I don't want the taller screen to ruin the lines of the look, but from what I've seen it goes well. Thanks too for height and vent feedback. I was thinking the 23" was appropriate, but it's hard to tell without it actually being stalled. if it works for you it should for me too.

Careful - not everyone has the same torso height.
This can vary quite a lot.

Harley FLH. Several manufacturers or buy used at swap meet or bbay. 20 to 100$
You just have to move the signal lights out using the stock mount.
The bottom is affixed using a set of R3 fork mounts. 90$ for a set of four.

They fly well.
Has been done before by others.

Gday i'm tall and lanky Bull still look away over top of it. Actually wanted it a bit higher. Brackets I made are quickly adjustable. Up, down and tilt.
