Clarification on Cams

Everybody I know with 150+ SAE HP and the Barnett clutch has slippage issues. So IMO, if you want Nev's mild cams (160+ SAE HP), and don't want to squander the torque, you need the lock-up clutch.

Dougl, I was referring to the Barnett clutch.

cams

My billet drop in cams are that. The mild street cams do not require diall in unless your cam chain is worn.Base circle is the same as stock,so if your shims are correct before they will be after. They are not expensive, you save 12 valve shims at $26Aust each and the time taken to shim and diall in at whatever hourly rate your mechanic charges. You do not have to buy and/or make adjustable gears,so you are waay in front $wise over regrinds,AND they are new.$3 more than a complete engine gasket set from Triumph,$350Aust less than a set of Yosh cams for a gixxer. All my prices are in OZ$.Not one person who has bought a set of these cams has expressed anything but satisfaction to me.

bored

FWIW one may just be able to bore the R3 1mm and that would be it.The bottomof the liners are very thin.To get them bigger would be a major undertaking.

Hi guys,

I have both Nev's mild cams and lock-up clutch and I am very satisfied with the increase in HP and torque.
Both parts are very well made and well worth the money. For those that are after a bit more 'omph', go for it.

Nev's cams

Pedro, What extra Hp and Torque did you get instaling Nev's mild cams and lock- up clutch? What else have you done to it? Whats your over all HP and Torque?
Because I have Jardine exhaust and K&N filters and tuneboy and I'm getting 149.8 HP as well as torque . I just like to know if I did spend the money how much extra HP and torque will it give me base on what I have know?

$

I use Aust $ as I cannot buy food with US ones. $1100Aust for the clutch $1150 for later clutch, after eng #249177. Triumph have changed them again in late 07 but as yet I cannot find eng # on change point. $1050Aus for a pair of cams. With the mild drop in cams the WORST I have acheived is a 9hp increase.Usual is 10-12.It is hard to describe, the engine feels smoooooth and willing, feels much more than 10hp,delivery is changed and the engine feels lively and willing.Tuning is a must.

1100 AUs is 994.51 in US dolalrs as of todays rate
1050 is 949.31

so 1943.82 or Roughly $2,000 plus shipping sooooo lets hope the dollar gets stronger so we can all buy new cams yeah!!!

its not that they are not worth it, thats a bargain in big scheme of things
youd need the clutch if anythign with a turbo or SC
