Chrome to Black Engine Guards

As a Scot living in Florida I'd imagine that you would want the least spendy, and most redneck way of doing things. Rough up the pipes with some Scotchbrite, then get a paintbrush and some flat black paint and paint them.

Only painting I have ever done Ian was the catholic churches back home, my pal who had a small motorbike repair shop but closed up kept one of his powder coating ovens and he is still doing small jobs so powder coating it is.

What is the best way to turn chrome guards black? is it best to strip the chrome off, has anyone done this.

Hi Scott

I have changed my chrome covers to black a while back. I just used 3M plastic wrap stuff (sorry don't know correct name and got it for free) with a heat gun. Best thing is if you want to go back to chrome it is supoosed to just peel off, but then blue tac wasn't supposed to leave marks on the wall. They use it to cover cars etc so its probably OK.

Requires a bit of patience and experiment but there's lots of good YouTube videos on how to do.

Lonnie how are you, I bought a 2011 Roadster a while ago it has the 210 carp kit but only putting out 180hp as it has the TORs on it anyhoo still not a big fan of the black(except blkackie) but hate chrome and black so started turning it black have swapped bits with a few members but it will never be a blackie

Just yankin your chain as you know Dave. I'm doing well, not getting to ride as much as I'd like in my retirement though.......seriously considering a major redo to Blackie..... tried to sell her to Lupe, but you know how all these illegals are........ we shall see.
