Chirping noise

Just looking at a rocket tourer 2010 for my brother.it's got the ram air kit fitted and makes a chirping noise from the engine under acceleration. Is this normal.

Interesting. I wonder if it is the design of the filters that causes the chirping. Wonder if it will still chirp with the original inlet trumpets installed? Didn't we have someone here install a modified Ramair with the original trumpets?

I agree it doesn't sound like chirping to me either. To me it's valve clacking heard through the open intake. I like the air noise but not the clacking.

I run individual K&N's which also chirp. I lined the inside of my claw with some adhesive backed sound deadening material. Knocked the noise down about 75%

Hey thanks, I was thinking to try that with some Dynamat before giving up on the extra air intake! 75% reduction would be great!

I also stuck a strip of that material to the gas tank that acts like a gasket between the tank and the claw, to keep the noise under there.

Yes I put the original rubbers in my Ramair, didn't hear crickets before or after I fitted them, just induction roar which I kind of like.

Chirping ... great way to describe it... I installed a ram air kit and had the same issue... Had it check out after installing a power commander 5 and was advised that it wasn't an issue as you have been advised... I hope that I can get use to it as I believe the addition of the ram air kit has improved the performance of the bike.... I fully get you frustration....

The chirping frequency and pitch are also effected by which tune is loaded into the bike... Since installing PC-V+AT and adjusting my tunes a bit, mine is almost completely gone.

I don't understand what you mean? How could you put the original rubbers in your Ramair? Do You have a picture?
There is a thread on the process on hear somewhere with photos. I can't think what it was called. I'll have a search to see if I can find it. I did it to fix the splitting rubber problem the first batch of Ramair filters had. Don't know that it made any difference to induction noise.
