Check Engine Light...

Someone else with more knowledge will chip in soon.

But the throttle bodies may be out of whack, they should be all the the same or at least within 10 points of each other.
They can be adjusted by turning the small screws in the linkage.
However you need tune ECU to get the numbers the same.
Also I am not sure if this would cause the CEL to come on?

The secondary throttle stepper motor can get confused if it has ever been removed/adjusted, or if the throttle shaft gets dirty and hangs up a bit.

To keep this from becoming a recurring issue, you need to get the shaft/stepper back in the correct range. Installing the secondary throttle blades can help, and does not reduce output. In fact, they can help idle and low end output noticeably when adjust correctly.

I hope this helps.

That sounds great! I, however, have ABSOLUTELY no idea how to do it! LOL Is that something you do with Tune ECU?

Update 2

Thank you guys very much for the information. I just spoke with the shop and here is the deal. They say that they think the check engine light is coming on because the butterflies have been removed and the actuator is trying to close them, but they aren't there. They said that the other Carpenter Rocket they work on does the same thing.

Now, there are plenty of guys on here with the Carpenter Rockets and I have not heard about this being an issue for them. I tend to think that they don't really know and are saving face with this, BUT when I asked what they were going to charge me, they said it would be an hour diagnostic and that would be it. I don't think I can complain too much about that.

I asked if they are giving the bike a clean bill of health and they said yes, it runs great. I will pick it up in a couple of hours.

Of course, the check engine light is still on...

I would like to get that taken care of, so I am open to any suggestions that you guys have, keeping in mind that I don't know my arse from a hole in the ground when it comes to mechanics! But my brother is pretty good and he recommends another guy if need be.

I am going to pull down tune ECU and get the cable, so hopefully I can be some use.

Thanks again guys, I really appreciate your information!

But i do agree with you so many people so ready to jump forward and help others who they have never met unheard of! My helmets off to you all dont hurt youreself but give youreself a pat on the back

Only charging you for 1 hour is VERY decent of them. I'm sure they had far more time than that into it, even though they did nothing. Sounds like an honest dealer to me. And like I said before, once you start modifying anything, problems will arise, and you can't really expect a dealership to know all the tweaks of a modified machine with other than stock components.
