charging system fault

Sorry to be so needy, but when you say read "between" any of the terminals, does that mean I am putting the red lead from the multimeter on one of the terminals and ground the other lead?

I replaced my OEM with a Shindengen, per Decosse's recommendation back in 2011 on my Datyona 955i. No issues since Thanks Ken.

Black or red does not matter which one goes where on a resistance test! And yes one lead to ground and one to a terminal in connector.

I believe that's the same one I've just installed...fully charged the battery, installed new RR rode 30km @80 - 120 km/h stopped, sat for 9hrs the did the same trip home. Bike wouldn't start the next morning and showed 9.5v

So open circuit on all 3 stator legs and a new RR and it's still not charging?!

Going to defer to the big brain on this one, Ken. I would have expected it to be charging at this point!

Initially i replaced the battery so I'd hope we can rule that out as a dud. I'll do the open circuit stator test tonight.

The only clue for me to follow on with is the black connector on the new rr only having a left and right pin when yhe oem rr has a centre pin as well

The stator or R/R is going to be one of those 95% of the time
Do check the connectors, ensure there is no burning on them and that they are fully engaged & clicked into place.
On Kevin's Touring the ground pigtail connector was burned, so check that - it's about 6" from the battery terminal on the smaller gauge wire.

Can you confirm what R/R you installed? There are a lot of shindengen fakes out there ......

At least in your last couple of posts (havent searched further back) @mr hunt I didnt see whether you had done the stator check above

Dont worry about number of pins - pretty sure your OEM harness doesnt have three wires on black connector so centre pin question is moot

Thanks Ken no i haven't done the stator check yet...will get to that tonight .... i have new apprentice to train...
