I'll be receiving a CES full system in a couple weeks along with a Ramair intake as well. I'm super excited to get it on the bike and tuned, But I have one problem.

The guy who will be doing the tune is at a bike event I'm attending and will only be there for a day and it pretty booked (apparently he's a wizard when it comes to tuning). I have a slot scheduled with him but don't want to waste both of our time putting the system on in the booth.

Can I drive the bike 5 miles after swapping from stock to Full CES + Ramair without an initial tune? Or will it damage the bike? THANKS!

As long as you ride gently - yes. 5 miles from cold and you'll only just be coming off "choke" and as long as you're not pushing it the ECU will probably stay in LOAD tables anyway. Does he know R3's

That's good to hear, I'm not sure if he knows R3's specifically but he didn't balk at using TuneECU at all. Most require Pcv or something similar.

5 miles should be absolutely fine IMO and as Barbagris says just take it easy. I had to ride mine 30 miles just for a new map when I changed my pipes and also ran my RamAir for a couple of test runs before getting a map for that also.

Hope you get sorted as it will really unleash the beast.

absolutely fine as Chris said my only concern is don't leave bike running stationary (as in a 12 min tune) till it is tuned or you will risk damaging the ceramic coating

I've just been playing with the first set of data from my new PCV-POD. Some might be surprised how rich the beastie is on the LOAD tables. I was.
I need a day with some TuneECU/PCV data and a Windows" (yuk) PC. More data needed first though - Only 13000 samples - I'll take 50000 as a starting point.

When you have the CES and Ram Air mounted up, let me know.
I also have a 2012 R3R with CES and Ram Air AND an awesome Tune ECU tune from Guru, Nels Byersdorf.
Send me a PM and I shall send it to you. At least that shall safely get you to your own tuner . . .
