So, I "did a thing"...
Found a cheap CarPlay screen thingy on Amazon. Previously, I've just had my iPhone on a handlebar mount, but I wasn't thrilled with the small screen and don't really like running the risk of the phone falling (I have a RAM mount, but still...) figured it was better to have a sacrificial screen while I keep my phone secure in a zippered pocket or saddle bags.

Anyway, this thing fit perfectly above the gauge cluster and only requires a power wire.

No, it's not waterproof, but it pops off easily when I want to wash the bike, and I live in Las Vegas where we have 300+ days of no rain, so...

Show me what you're running for GPS.

I've been looking at these also for my R. It currently have a quad lock set-up but because I couldn't get a specific case for my phone I don't trust the stick on lock on my case.

I use a Garmin Nuvi on my Touring. Not so much for GPS or anything else although the option is there. I use my phone in another mount for Waze, music, etc. The reason for the Nuvi is because when using the Garmin Eco-Route module I can set it up as instruments, mainly the tach which the Touring is sorely lacking. Another nice thing about is it will pop out of the powered mount so I can take it off when the bike is going to be parked for a while and lessen the temptation for thieves. While I believe both the Nuvi and the Eco route is discontinued they may be found on the secondary market.

Man, you guys get a lot of rain there, we get less than 30 days a year with rain. ;)

VERY nice.. the ram mount quick grip is 1000x better than the any other mount (rubber trash holders) and protects the entire back of the phone. I have crashed HARD on a dirt bike and the phone was still attached but it was smashed because the phone got smashed into the ground on a rock but IT WAS still on the mount...
I would prefer a setup like this though so i can keep my phone out of reach of the random quick sneak thief when i go into a gas station etc. also the phone does not like to be plugged in and rained on and i despise wireless charging as it wears down the battery a lot faster than a cable charge.

In Ireland we get cold rain in the winter and warm rain in the summer 😂

I use the same setup. I bought a cheap waterproof cover to protect from the elements.

I just received the handle bar mount, waterproof, wireless charger for my phone. Because it's waterproof no issue riding in the wet, the wireless charging means I can have the screen on waze (or whatever) all day & not worry about a flat phone battery. I can still use the phone as a phone because the glass screen acts like a screen protector & the phone works as normal. I've wired it up to the back of the Aux plug by the dash. After fitting I tried it out & it's charging & working as it should. Happy with the result.
