Can I make TORS louder? Removing the baffles?

Would it not just be easier - to get a set of Dave Platt's TRIUMPH ROCKET 3 ROADSTER OUTLAW SYSTEM | eBay
I hate messing with original parts as replacing them is EVEN MORE expensive.
It would be yes , except for the fact that the Outlaws I do not find particulary pleasing to my eye . I would like slightly larger cans with a good flare at the slash cut . I haven't known many cases of people exchanging the tors pipes back to the restrictive stockers , unless you have particulary

Oops ! Pressed the post button accidently .
I was saying , unless you have particulary strict ministry of transport tests .
The outlaws sell for the best part of £800 whereas stock pipes can be purchased on ebay for as little as £120 .
I have the stockers, which I know will never be fitted back to the bike and I am quite comfortable with the chop and fabrication of mufflers to my bespoke design . Not to mention the satisfaction of doing the job myself !
My eventual plan is to then mate my custom mufflers to a full set of Ces headers and custom link pipe .
If I sell the bike , it will go with standard headers , heatshields , tors and link pipe as well as the full custom pipes ! What more could a prospective buyer ask for ? :)

I have my stock almost unused silencers wrapped and stored safely away just in case I have to put them back on one day if the bike goes to another owner the silencers go with it

Ken, back in the early 80's I was running a M/C shop service, repairing and rebuilding British M/C's
The single hardest part was locating good original parts to rebuild with.
When I started to modify my 1975T160 Trident, I kept all of the original parts, so today all these years later I could restore it to original 1975 condition.
The only component that I don't have is the original mufflers, but I know someone that makes those ;)

G'day Paul ,Back in the day I can remember a lot of guys had CB750 Honda 4s and almost all of them butchered or replaced the 4stock mufflers with 4 into1 pipes ,then anyone restoring a CB750 found that a good set of stock pipes if you could find a set were worth an arm and a leg, same as the Z900 Kwakas , I think its better to replace and keep the stock parts just in case of more stringent EPA inspections on exhaust systems emissions in the future or you want to bring the bike back to original as a classic example to pass onto your grandson my stock 1985 Superglide is ear marked for my grandson

As others have pointed out - Sometimes folk want standard. Buy a set of originals on ebay and Modify them - and keep the originals mint. We have unbelievable strict MoT tests. So my originals sit neatly packed for MoT's and I run THUGS.

According to this running with less discs is quieter.

Technology

But when I had one one my 1973 XL 250 Honda when it lost the center rod nut holding the discs in place they all fell out together and it was much louder.;):D

The TORS are just glass packs. If you want more sound out of them, get rid of the glass. I've been told that back in the day one would put some oil or other such fuel in them and light them on fire. Sit with a hose and spray them every now and again to keep the chrome from coloring. The other way I was told was to pour water into them and then go for a very long ride to boil the water out. The boiling action helped to break down the fibers, the fire method just burns them out.

Geez ! this goes to prove that you can learn something new every day, I've never heard of that before :D

By removing the Glass packing in the silencers it will make them louder but instead of a deep sound you will end up with a high pitch annoying note ,a full flow cross over pipe gets a much nicer sound with the TORS, IMHO
