Well today was a frustrating day. Putting the Triumph wire clips and the older Carrillo wire clips into the groove at each end of the gudgeon pin was always a bit fiddly but doable.
Anyone who does this I bet will agree it's a pain.
The new Carrillo wire clips are a lot tougher and just do not want to go in.. doable one the bench but very difficult with piston in the upper case.
With the Stroker you have to use reverse bolt rods so fastening them from above. Means you have 1 option for doing pistons and that's from the top.

Anyway I made a patented proprietary special tool for doing it, you use a socket like a push rod sliding hammer thing and pop the clips in.
Not perfect, takes a few goes' but it works.

Glad they were packed so well, could have been disastrous. Doesn't hurt to check them closely, all the shipped parts.

I do, expensive custom made forged billet parts that are too pretty to go inside an engine.... at this stage crank, rods, pistons, clutch..
At least with this set I have a spare which can go on the mantelpiece.

Today was timing day. Good news is the valves do not crash with the new pistons

Going with a stud instead of a bolt on the crank nose, makes changing pulleys and removing front engine cover much easier.

For weight savings? I know for race day I'll have to have the side stand removed or wired up. Bit of a pain because it ain't a sport bike with paddock stands. I intend to use a block of wood..

Notice the grooves on the edge and plug towers for the gasket to sit into and seal better, on the older design.
Although I've had both these apart many times and not one oil leak ever.

Today the engine got closed up and supercharger mounted.
It is **** warm these days, slows work down.
That reminds me I must get some nice braided lines to replace those ugly oil lines

Some thoughts on the hydraulic clutch - real good idea for drag racing. Replacing clutch fibers is quick and you have no issue with rapid lifter shaft & lifter piece head wear when staging.

Sequential shift light arrived from ze Germans, with some sweets. Planning on mounting it under the lip of the sports screen, right under my line of sight.
2 outside LEDs go green when staging RPM is met.
Then the other ambers at whatever revs you want, finishing with a big red central LED for shift time.


EDIT: I made a balls of the cam cover years, mixed them up, I has swapped them over in 2012... corrected now.
