Cams, Pipes & Clutch upgrade

Warp is on the nose with every source, including the clutch fibers which I mis-identified. Lush, Reband, MTC, Samco.

As with all fibers, once you get the bike open, dry fit one at a time and check for burrs from the stamping die. They all have them and although even if not sharp enough to cut you, they might drag in the basket. Thus does hurt anything but the drag can make you adjust your free play out trying to get a easy neutral. Just as you should check your steels for flatness on a glass pane (if you have no access to a granite flat table - not many do) glass works fine. All these extra considerations what may seem to be nonsense can not only add to the ease of shifting, can also stop some premature dog wear and a few other problems.

Back to my coffee:)

I'm not familiar with the Reband pipes -- since you have a Touring, there is a fussy fitment with some surprising variability between different bikes on the distance between the exhaust flanges in front, the pannier support bracket in back, and the collector point sort of in the middle. I presume between you and Reband y'all have it figured -- not obvious to me in the photo how the pipe attaches in the rear.

@Mad Dog I have the same pipe on my R3T and you will need 2 more things for the project.

Get a second set of exhaust gaskets and double them up. You need just a wee bit more clearance to keep the inside pipe from rattling on the back of the engine.

Second thing is a BIG box of ear plugs!!! Its LOUD, not too bad just tooling around mind you. Get her up near the red line and it'll make yer eyeballs rattle through a full cover helmet!!!:eek::eek:

Oh yeah, don't try to pull the guts out to pack more glass in it. You'll never get any more in there than is already there and then it's even louder.:(

Ah, the wise voice of experience..:D:D

Yea, I’ve read about the issues, might have been you @BillB. I talked to Reband before I purchased and got them to throw a second set of gaskets in the deal. Thanks for the heads up BTW.
Was it you having problems with leaks at the collector? I’m going to weld it up to prevent that.
What’s the heat like coming off the pipe..hot I suppose. Was considering having a hi temp ceramic sprayed on the inside of the primaries after welding up, worth it you think?
