At 6'5" you might be best looking for a standard as they have forward foot controls that would give your legs more room- although you wont get ABS and will be restricted in years only up to 2009. 2010 on- the Roadster and Touring were basically the only options.

And of course the Touring is very different in that it has permanent hard bags, a windscreen and a detuned engine. The latter issue is easily rectified.

It really comes down to style and riding preferences. Do you want a windscreen or do you want a naked bike? Do you want bags mounted full time, sometimes, or not at all? Do you care if it is a single or dual headlight model? All of those issues will determine if the Touring model is right for you. Of course the windscreen is easily removed on the R3T but with the pull back nature of the bars, riding at speed without the screen can be very tiring as you are sitting bolt upright. The R3T does have forward controls and floorboards which you may or may not prefer.

If you think the Roadster is a good fit, you may want to get one and add engine bars to it with highways pegs for your longer rides to give you a more stretched out position. And they will keep your bike off it side in case it slips...

they all look great ...I do prefer the naked look though, I may have to stick with the early models for $ reason. But want to make sure upgrades were done etc...on that note anybody here know of a good dealer/service provider here in Az.?

2 guyes garage 2 of the best triumph mechanics I know I travel from Farmington n.m. to see them they left a dealer and started their own shop (480 633 3527)they do keep track of quality bikes available go talk to them, top quality folks

AZ Superbikes (I think they changed their name to RideNow) is closest to you. If Kyle is still running the service dept, I'd trust him. If not, well I'm not a fan of the dealership in general. Only other dealer left in town is GoAZ in Scottsdale. Since you won't be dealing with warranty work I'd invest the time in trying to find an independent mechanic.

Oh, and if you change your mind on which model you are interested in, I have an '08 R3T I may be willing to part with.

Welcome from Germany (by way of Mississippi)! Don't be too afraid of the early models. I love my 07 classic and except for the 2nd gear dog ears any and all issues (of which there are few!) are inexpensive and non time consuming! Keep us posted on your search!
