British triples rally Ballina.

Mates from Sandgate have been doing the Triple Rally since it kicked off .. few of them have T150's and a couple have BSA Rocket 3's. Mate over here in Albany just finishing of an early drum brake T150 resto. He's got a swag of 650 and 750 Triumphs that he's restored... does a great job bringing them back to their former glory. Has a new Harley Superglide as his main ride .. he's never even ridden a Rocket.

Sounds like he needs to.

I reckon that few of the newer Triumph triples need to turn up for this rally.

Legends were built from the bits that were left when They stopped production of the T160 at the end of 1975. There was 60 some say 61 built from 1975 to the last one in 1992. I would like to own one of these but I dont have enough money to even think about one. One of the 3 in Australia changed hands in 2001 or 2 for about $23,000. The red one in the pic is build No8 so it would be late 70's model. I dont know what build number the black one in the other pic is. I think the 3rd one in Australia is dark green.

My brother still has my 75' T160. It was near mint condition when he got it from me. I had painted it black as the Purple/Maroon color was faded. Had I known that was an original color I would have stayed with it. Anyway, he dumped about $5,000 into it. Total engine rebuild, re-laced back wheel to 16". Three into one header etc. Rode it twice and decided he wanted a Harley. The Triumph got shoved up against the damp cement wall in his garage with a tarp over it. I looked at it last year. Wish I hadn't. **** shame, that.
