Bringing the front tire up.

I can get it up! I'm still young though  So, I have the 2011 Roadster model with GI Pro, Power Commander V, K&N Triples (exposed), and a professional dyne tune. I'm also a Darksider, which makes pop-ups easier.

Ditto on the darkside....makes it lots easier. My Roadster has GIPro but still has POS Mezzler and it likes to spin. My other Rocket will stand up on command mainly because of the ct.

When I first got my 2005 R3 Standard... I intentionally tried bringing the front end up.... I would ride in second gear... do a little throttling then I would throttle down to let the front end dip a bit..after it dipped down I would throttle up and pull the handlebars and lay back to bring the front end up a bit... I did a few short ones.. then I finally got the balls to try to ride it out.. the bike came up nice and clean.. all I could see was the gas tank... almost ****ted myself and set the bike back down... I felt like I rode like 100 feet.. but im sure it was more like 3 feet... :)

My front comes up pretty easy on a hard take off and will stay there till I go for second gear.

Sixty Eight years young...Put around 1000mi. on R3 before winter. 400 mi on new rear tire. Cranked it open at around 20mph and speed shifted to second gear. Front end stayed planted. Not trying to wheelie, leaning forward ducking down, hanging on for dear life and trying not to crap my shorts.:(
Only reason I didn't crap shorts is I was scarred crapless.

Also watched the wheelie and drifting video and was inspired.

Should I try or not try to wheelie . That is the question.:sneaky:

Update....The Metzler cord started showing while on a roadtrip to Big Bend a few months back. The only thin available being so far from civilization was a car tire that was not unidirectional. It is working well though. No complaints. Just so glad to get a decent tire on the back again.

Although the Metzler has a disadvantage of mileage reduction it does have great traction. I was running 9's with mine and just the TTS upgrade. Faster now with the Carpenter bits in her :D

I did notice that one of the benifits of the metzler was the thick sidewalls which when I got a hole in her (large enough that it took four plugs to close it) I was able to ride a good 15 miles on her to the gas station to repair it. When I had the blow out on the Avon it sat flat on the rim and I had all I could do to steer it off the road on a side street and had to tow it away. I have not got a flat on the Exedra Max yet (knock on wood) so I have know comparison except I like the way she feels and hooks up. By far the best hooking tire I have ran has been the the Conti Race attack tire but being softer rubber mileage did go down to the metzler range. The cheapest tire I ran was the Shinko at 165 dollars which only lasted for 3400 miles. But to be fair I was torching it alot!:)
I tried the car tire thing for about 500 miles but hey its like sticking your finger in your eye (it does not take to many times before you realize it hurts. The car tire did good at starting the burn pile of green tree limbs!!!!

As for bringing the front end up I like to avoid it although it still comes up some when I hit her hard even a couple inches whne I bang fourth gear at 150 mph, but I am usually leaning forward and chin on the tank so she levels right back out smoothly.

I was born and raised in Bloomington Il. "Land of lakes" and hopefully still good roads for a Rocket ride. Enjoy!

Never had a blow out on a motor cycle. Wondering how common blows are?
On the other hand I may not want to know:eek:

Never had a blow out.
