Bridgestone Exedra Max Radial

I find , i get 7-8000 klm out of my rear on the rt3 , and have to usually change the front has well , the front always has tread left but cupping is bad ,, even though i've run at higher pressure it never seems to make a diference

So question is , are the bridgstones ok for the rocket TOURER , simply because if you all remember they originally came out with the bridgstones but were recalled due to the bridgstone REAR tyre failing , which was attributed to the torque and the tyre was seperating inside ,

Has bridgstone fixed this issue or have people just forgot and taking a chance .. remember we are talking about the rt3 here it did'nt affest the standard rocket with the bigger tyre ..

Would'nt mind finding out i need 2 new tyres in the next couple of weeks for a big trip planned in feb .

Oh on a side note , the best wear i have had was out of a front metzler , it was a byply tyre not a r rated , it lasted 10,000 klm when i replaced it to go on a long trip , no cupping and still plenty of tread left , in fact i've still got it ready to go on after i scrub out the new ones doing the big journey in feb

Size matters?

Okay Guys, Time to get suggestions. It's time to buy a rear tire on my touring rocket. Should I stay with the stock size or go with something a bit bigger?

Thought I post my two cents on the Bridgestone. I have only knocked out a few miles since putting the bike back up last evening, but so far I am really impressed. Price is right, good feel on the road, (probably better when it is completely scuffed in), and a good looking tire. The prior Avon Cobra held up well, a little over 8k and there was still some meat left, but I believe I prefer the Bridgestone. Front is next and I went with a Metz, simply for the price.

The Avon front works well with the Bridgestone. To bad Bridgestone does not have a exedra max radial for the front of the beast. My 07 came with the exedra bias which just did not feel right (safe) on the bike the front end was everywhere.

There is an Exedra Max radial for the front and it pairs brilliantly with the matching 240 on the rear, Scott. the problem with the 130 Max is that it will defeat the ABS on any R3 so equipped and per 1olbull's experience with the 130 on his Roadster, it lowers the bike to the extent that it lowers the bike enough to catch some hard parts on the ground, which he believes was the cause of his bad spill last year.

The 130, just as with the 140 Michelin Commander II, lightens the overall feel of the bike's heft by about 100 or so perceived lbs, which may make the front end of your Millenium Falcon too squirrelly for comfort (the bike will feel 200+ lbs lighter with the 130). When I accelerate using lower gears and WOT to quickly pass other vehicles and such the front end is dancing around a bit, but that's quite controllable with my 200 rwhp. Beyond that amount of power, I'd probably choose to stick with the Michelin 140.

I still have that 130 front tire - less than 1000 miles on it - if anyone wants it?

Yes Phil but I was talking about the 150 not a little 130. Using a smaller tire to drop the front end is not my priority, if it was I would just lower the front end lower using the adjusters on the forks. Now I would run them if I needed a higher speed rating then the Avons or the Bridgestone offer at this time.
I thought about running the Commander II front and rear (using my 18 inch Rear rim) but after hearing of the front wearing out faster on a Rocket I am a little hesitant to try a set.

I am not convinced the tire was bad but maybe running a bias on the front and a Steel belted radial on the rear is not such a good idea. That is what the bike came with not my choice. OK and since I have a extra front along with the 18 inch rim I might still try the commander set anyway. I did try the Azaro on Speedy's bike and actually liked it but then he told me they were discontinuing it. I have no problem with the 150 as my front forks are about a 1/2" shorter anyway.

@1olbull , I did find some of the Azaro's on the net so I might order one to try anyway. Am I correct in thinking you guys are running them in reverse on the front?
