Brahma took a good punch today

No, what I mean is, you get an estimate out rather than get a perfect estimate, but then if you are to do a supplement, doesn't that time between getting the estimate out and getting the supplement (if required) in .... cause a delay ?

I think the delay will come from me telling the dealer they are cleared to proceed. It will take the dealer two days to come up with a list of damages and repair cost. They will send that directly to the adjuster who will then cut me a second check to cover the repair. At least that is how this one will play out to the best of my knowledge.

If it is a large supplement then yes it could slow it down but if it is still within the adjusters authority level then all he has to do is review, place a file note and cut the check (if he agrees its needed)

The thing to remember is that adjuster probably has 100 other claims and wants that claim closed as much as you. Even if estimate misses a couple things work can still begin.

The only holdup I used to deal with that irritated me was when the body shop took the car without having all the parts while I'm paying for a rental..... used to get pretty heated

...And the rental may be a continuous point on this one as I did say the bike is my year round vehicle therefore I want a rental bike at least with lockable bags. The adjuster said he needed to talk with his supervisor about that.
Brahma goes in one week from today so I am hoping that portion is worked out soon.

Yeah probably first time adjuster has had that request lol

The shop doesn’t order parts from the initial estimate because:
1) The adjusters initial estimate is usually inaccurate with incorrect parts chosen and unacceptable labor times.
2) The supplement for what it will actually cost to repair the vehicles usually doubles or triples, sometimes resulting in the vehicle being a total loss (which if written properly to begin with, would have already been determined and rental would not then be an issue)
3) The parts vendors chosen for the initial estimate were picked from a list of every vendor in the country, and will be the cheapest part possibly found. Shops do not have an account set up with every vendor in the country and will NOT buy from vendors using a credit card, so when the supplement is sent in for correct parts, the “wait time” is from waiting on insurance company approval
(Insurance companies cause ALL of the delays)
I could go on but am tired of typing on a cell phone.

Yes, it could get heated..... but I like you personally so I will leave it at that
This is not personal toward you, just the Insurance companies ;)

Another reason adjusters are forced to write “incomplete” initial estimates, from which the first payment is issued, is because they know they do not have to pay a supplement for the rest of the repairs until the vehicle is in a repair shop and disassembled, and waiting their approval (another delay on their part)

But sometimes people just take that initial estimate (incomplete estimate) payment and don’t repair the vehicle or just do a very minimal repair to make it driveable (which can only be done if the owner has title to vehicle because lien holders will not allow that) and when that happens and there is no supplement done by a shop the insurance company gets away with only paying a portion (usually small portion) of what they owe
they save millions of dollars over the course of many claims by doing that.
99% of the supplements we write in the shop is 2, 3, 4 times the amount of original estimate - truly
If you don’t believe me you go ask any number if shop estimators in you’re area & they will confirm that
Sorry bruh, again this is not personal toward you as you are just doing your job. But I started in this career on the insurance company side of this & these things I learned first hand and decided to leave to the other side. 24 years in this business, this is what I know
