Bike died while in traffic... overheating?

Can't explain the stalling but very occasionally if I switch off and then try immediately to start up, it feels as if the engine won't turn over; clicks once and sort of locks. Turn the key off again and after a couple of seconds it cranks normally. Guess it's done it half a dozen times in 70,000kms. I'm not concerned about it.
I've had the same and a couple of times the ABS light will then stay on for quite a while, sometimes it will re-set while you are still riding, sometimes it needs to be re-started. I've also had the odometer/trip meter display "go out" after a "false start", it comes to life after you re-start the bike. Same again, nothing to be concerned about.

I had the same issue today in Phoenix AZ, 1600 local time, temp around 90f, so road temp probably closer to 98f. Leading up to the stall, the engine seemed unhappy (vapor lock like) at about 45mph, neutral load on the engine. I caught the first attempt to stall decelerating for a set of lights. The next set, she quit on me, hadn't quite stopped, had to restart on the roll.

I did some research when I got home and there is a RECALL as listed at the website below. Apparently fixable with a tune update at the dealers.

Hope this helps others.
I called the Triumph distributors today and apparently they update the tunes with the dealers about every 6 months or so. Mine was last at the dealer about a year ago so well past the original "fix". I shall try doing it myself with TuneECU 20220.

2014 roadster..... First day I had it out (about 2 weeks ago), was barely 50F. I was making a left hand turn. As I completed the turn, I rolled on the throttle.. ..... And nothing. I pulled over to the shoulder. Pulled in the clutch, hit the starter, and she fired right up. Probably didn't even have 10 miles on her yet.

I find that very interesting Because I've been doing a lot of reading on the forum and the only "real" problem I've read most about is the Ignition issue and how the bike can not start. I don't recall reading much about random bike dying. Is there some kind of pattern?

Fresh tank of gas but it could be a bad tank.

Regarding idling I find that when I come to a stop it has a slow idle around 600-650 but then slowly creeps up and keeps steady at 850 which I believe is normal right

Maybe it's one of the things they talk about in the manual where the bike goes into "limp mode". The bike just dying has to be a serious quirk I hope I never have to experience.

Your bike is running to lean...lean means hot
Whilst I understand your comment, for me at least, this is a new trait. The bike had been mostly fine until yesterday.

I have downloaded tune 20220 and it has made a heck of a difference in performance. The bike had 20218 on it, I bought it used with standard pipes and It was in the shop with running issues just after I got. So not sure where that tune was from. In any case, it was incorrect.

Very happy with it so far.

Mine just cut out again while downshifting coming up to a red light. Called the dealer, they said they know nothing about it.

Mine was doing this under warranty and I finally had to call Triumph and complain since the dealer was giving me the runaround. Triumph remoted in to the dealer and they balanced the throttle bodies. Never did it again.
