Yea I run the smaller front 140 and with the Excedra on the rear (which is only offered in a slightly taller size than the OEM Metzler) it gives the bike much better handling, much quicker turn in. I think had you tried that you wouldn’t have been disappointed
Plus 1 on what @EasTexRIII said. I switched to the one size smaller 140/75R-17 Cobra years ago. The twisty handling was much improved. Still run it and have a new one waiting for install this spring.

Geez, now I am tempted to find and buy another front wheel and install the smaller Cobra size you and others recommend. Then do a comparison test between my Michelin Road 5 and your Avon's, giving each a few hundred miles of testing.
