Bearclaw elimination and showing off the triple filters?

I did the same as Skip. I hesitated for quite awhile, but then after dropping the **** thing on the garage floor and putting a nice scratch in the chrome I figured I had nothing to lose.

The dremel worked just fine. I used masking tape to mark the line I wanted to cut, and then cut it a bit short of the line as Skip said, and then cleaned it up to where I wanted it.

That's what I'm going to try an do once I get brave enough.. lol I hate to mess with it too much right now because it's running great with the drop-in K&N and Jardines.. :) But the exposed triple filters will sure set it off... :)

Hell, I did mine with a 4 inch angle grinder and a metal chop disk. The edge is like a razor so if anyone thinks they're gonna get a free set of k&n's it's gonna cost them several stitches and time in the E.R. I just really like the look of L.S.'s. I was gonna go the single k&n route till I pulled the cams etc. to remedy the paint can rattle. The hardest part of the whole job was trying to get all the ****ed ducting and plenums back in place. I knew then that I would eventually replace the crank sprocket, timing chain, chain guides etc. and there's no way I'm dealing with all that plastic again. So the k&n's were ordered and installed within weeks.

Skip, I was not referring to you sidetracking the thread. You were just responding to someone else who did. So far I've only had to deal with two issues and I resolved them myself. If I had the funds I'd buy another in a heartbeat and make a shaft drive chopper out of it. I don't have that much so I built a shaft drive Honda 900 C shaft drive 10 speed bobber. But someday.........someday............!!!!!!!

Manic Mechanic,
How bout postin a pic of your "other ride".
I threatened to do the chopper thing to mine.
See them wrecked ones on ebay and thought "I could use that frame, rake it" yada, yada.
But I hated riding chops, the rock takes 20 acres to turn around anyway,
so I opted for just the rear bobbed fender and sissy bar to give me that sentimental feeling.

They are in my gallery. When I uploaded pics of the bobber the heading was Bi Polar Express but when I processed all the pics at the same time they all listed under The Mistress. I haven't taken the time to delete and reload yet. Going to upload new pics of the Bi Polar Express soon as I've added some interesting side covers since the last shots.

$265 Yes and yes. These carbon parts i make are made using a vacume lay up process that gives an extremely good strength to weight ratio. I also use aerospace quality materials that are second to none. Also make the fork gaurds, full claw, and some other stuff that i will soon post pics of.

Thanks for the response. That's a reasonable price considering what buying and modifying a stock bearclaw would cost. I need to decide whether the effort is worth it considering the marginal increase in response.
