Backrest

Have had a Corbin with backrest for 11 years and have found it great. My back is buggered but once I have lifted the leg over and hopped into place its like an armchair.
Negates the need for a big screen as you are well supported

Question?
Do you ride with a backrest, how much do you like/dislike it? Would you pay an extra $250 for it?

I've got the Triumph Touring seat with backrest and for me it makes a HUGE difference in the fight against fatigue. I can get another couple hundred miles out of a day of riding.

I find a backrest essential for long distance rides. I had on Corbin seat on my 07 Classic and very much liked the backrest because it is easily removed, unlike the Triumph backrest. I kept the Corbin backrest in my saddlebag and if for some reason on a local ride I decided I needed it, in it went.

After I bought my Touring, I rode for a couple of weeks with the backrest installed but finally got tired of climbing on the bike with it, although the backrest can be pushed forward.

My solution was to purchase a solo seat for local riding. While it has a place for the backrest I don't use it. The first pic is how it was taken at my friend's house when I first bought it and the second with the solo seat.

Really good to lean back on and to carry stuff you might need.
The stock saddle fits there too..

Is the Fehling rack and backrest a regular production item or did they build to your specs? I really like it.

..Its a regular production. You will need to search 'Google' for the black one if thats what you want. You can also choose the pad thickness.

I got a couple of pairs of front crash bars and the Driver Sissy bar from different sources. One pair of front bars were about Au$305 delivered to Australia but I doubt you will find them that cheap now. The Driver Sissy bar was a little more from memory.

I just finished 2- 2K mile rides; the first with the OEM seat and the second with the Triumph Long-haul seat and rider backrest. My lower back was indeed sore on the first ride but it is what I am accustomed too. However, the second ride was awesome as I had NO back pain on either 1K mile leg. I am very pleased to have found this setup.

My setup and experience as well. Once I upgraded to the Triumph long-haul seat w/ backrest I was able to put in another 300-500 miles a day.
