Back home to a 25 Rocket 3 GT Storm

I had a 2007 Rocket and had Carpenter Racing do his magic. Believe me, the 2.5 liter Rockets are far better machines in terms of overall build quality, comfort and handling.
Also the great electronics, and brakes are much improved. I have a 2021 GT and it is certainly a major improvement!
I should have made my request more clear.....
Please don't let me know if the newest "improved" 3R/GT is better than my 2020 3R. I can't afford an upgrade and don't need the temptation ;)

what calms me down a bit is that storm only have more HP and same torque, which * I think * is just Triumph putting a tune on new storm as Engine is same, we dont see upgrade in pistons/cams etc. on storm

So 15 more HP to the crank. That means maybe 11 HP to the rear wheel with maybe 2 LBS of torque more. Doesn't seem like anything to get to excited about. Now I wouldn't mind the extra 11 HP but not for the 2025 price tag. You larger members in the the area of weighing 300 lbs. Just lose 100 LBS down to 200 LBS, gain an immediate 10 HP and it's a push and you're not out of any money. I'm down 10 LBS and up 1 HP. I want to celebrate but If I do I'll lose my 1 HP. 🤬

Yeah I was trying to talk a guy out of "upgrading" his 2022 for a Storm because it had "more power". I kept telling him it's just tuned better and he could just get tune on his current model and get same if not better results. He couldn't comprehend this. I think he ended up with the Storm...

There was talk on the forum about the new 2025 tune and if a Triumph dealer would or could be downloaded to the 20-24 Rockets and how much they would charge. Does anyone know of an early newer gen Rocket getting the tune uploaded (for a price of course) at their dealer? I'm not interested in that although I am curious if any dealer would do it. My dealer wouldn't put a new horn on my 2020 that they sell in their accessories department. They just sell it I guess. Maybe it's just California or just my dealer but they do ZERO modifications of any kind. If you want a modified exhaust move to another state or do like I did on my 2014 Rocket. Ride to Reno Triumph and let them do it. In the winter by the way over the Sierra's. Lots of pucker moments. Never again!!

but the question is, is that 25 storm tune going to make any difference on older rockets? at least with penner tune we have more torque than 2025 storm stock.

The power difference is actually quite noticeable and the throttle mapping seems improved so it seems like they cleaned up the calibration. The transmission and Quickshifter operate better than it did on my 2020 & 2022 R3 GT. Sometimes it would not shift into 2nd so maybe over the few years it improved. Definitely glad to be back on a Rocket 3 for sure.

transmission + quickshifter + throttle mapping = brand new bike,

we can visit this again when you have exact same miles as you had on your older rocket 2.5

Brand new bikes are virgins vs old bikes are like old wife 40K miles, needs valve adjustment, tires, plugs and list goes on and on ( no offence, I am just joking)

but did you notice insane difference?

I'm more curious if the power difference is noticeable between the storm and a tuned 2020+. When I put the Penner tune on my 2020 it was a huge difference. I personally think this was in Triumph's plans all along to sell more bikes or get people to trade in their current models. No way they didn't know the bikes were severely detuned.

100% agree on your theory, since they havent upgraded cams/pistons/shafts etc, what else it could be other than a tune or filter to claim more power on storm? I would love to get a storm but i am just trying to make a better decision that is it worth it?
