Been thinking about routes. That's ROUTES guys; grow up. ;) I know it's a long way off but it might help some guys' decision to go if they can see how doable it is.

Given that it's a long ride we don't really want to piss fart around and back-track and stuff so maybe something like this works for us southerners. Not meaning to leave anyone out but using a few names to illustrate.

Day 1. Ponters leaves Melbourne, picks up Cobber at Wodonga and they spend first night at Gundagai. 505 km (170 for Cobber) or add 100km and stay at Yass.

Day 2. Ponters and Cobber head to Muswellbrook via Cowra, Bathurst. 530km from Gundagai (via Cootamundra) or 485 km from Yass.

Kiwi and I head to Muswellbrook via Campbelltown and Penrith. 515km

Hanso heads to Muswellbrook via Kangaroo Valley (lucky bastard) 520km, meeting up with me and Kiwi at Bowral or Campbelltown on the way. Or he can meet us in Goulburn adding 45km to his trip.

Day 3. We all head to Warwick 570km via Tamworth, Armidale, Tenterfield and meet up with TC, Mitch, Bruce, Binnsy, BigAl etc

Day 4. Look out Hervey Bay 454 km

Day 2 could be longer and Day 3 shorter if we stay at Tamworth (156km from Muswellbrook). Willow Tree is roughly in the middle of the two.

Anyone coming from the west could probably aim to hook up with us around Muswellbrook/Tamworth unless you fancy going through Broken Hill, Cobar or Bourke.

Those along the way can join up or "go their own way". Anyway, just food for thought. We could knock a day off and do it in bigger chunks of around 750km but I'll be more inclined to do that on the way home.

Pretty **** close to the same thing I've been thinking for the last few days too Richard.
Only changes I'd have done would have been to go up thru Wagga and camp at Cootamundra for the first night.

Cobba please don't think you're stepping on anyone's toes. It is appreciated that people such as yourself firstly are willing to assist in getting things done.

No decision will be made for the purchase of anything until we all agree, however the more information, quotes, and sponsorship for things we can obtain early gives us all a better chance to keep ahead of any cost more importantly to keep them down.

I think we have to look at t shirts, Stubby holders good idea for participators show or gift bag. I have no doubt there's quite a few captains that may have contacts who could possibly even arrange financial sponsorship.

I doubt it but I would love this thing to come together so well that we have no direct financial outlay for participating except personal riders costs.

The more information we get now gives us plenty of time to present a professional prospectus to local triumph dealer, local councils, local accommodation, Local Media, Local community, and so to get as much support from as many areas as possible.

This being the first RDU ride will be the hardest and most complex in the initial set up and organisation. As the plan is always been to have the ride move from state to state each year it will only get easier for all of year after year.

I personally don't care how many quotes, designs, and ideas come forward as this is a joint venture for all captains to participate and enjoy.

Therefore I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of every body who gets to experience our mutual friendship, interests, and hospitality our sincerest appreciation and gratitude for any Ideas, input, and assistance you provide.

I personally would like to express the same to Cobba, Hanso, Canberra3, Evil Mitch, Tomcat for getting on board so quickly. It just goes to show together, supporting a single idea, has turned into a group idea welcoming input and support from all interested parties.

Sorry Hanso and Mrs Marty. I didn't realise you were going ahead with it straight away.
Sent a message to a mate yesterday asking if he'd be interested in doing a design/quote for us as well.

He's actually a member of this forum as well but due to work commitments doesn't get in here that often.
I've actually given him a heads up about the rally as well hoping he might come anong as well.
He just got back and is more than happy to have a play with what we're doing too.

Hope that's not stepping on anyones toes but he also does Teeshirts, stubbie holders and decal/stickers plus a lot more, (tee's and stubbie holders from Port 2011 were his work) so would be handy to have if we decided to go that way with a show bag type thing as well.

I can get back to him and tell him not to worry about it if you want to stick with the one quote.

Cheers.

Never think you're stepping on anyone's toes mate long way to go yet, many more ideas and input needed, the more we get and utilise the better we will get, and the easier it will be for 2013. I would also like to think every time we change state we do our best to get the best deals and sponsorships from the state hosting the event. Bearing in mind we can never ignore or decline the best products, and services offered to RDU events and rides.:D

So we are all pretty much in agreement that we are going to group up at Grafton on the Thursday and ride to HB the next day, yeah?

I've passed thru Grafton a few times over the years but never stayed there I don't think.
What's peoples thoughts for accommodation for the night.

Hanso's towing the camper so I'd imagine you'd be sleeping in it.
Tomcat. You thinking about rollin out the swag or would a room in a pub or cabin in a caravan park be better for a one nighter???
I'm not fussed but if it's lookin like rain I'd rather a cabin or room.
Mitch. You'd be wanting a room too???

Does anyone know the area well enough to make any suggestions?? Preferably at or near a pub so we can have a countermeal and a few drinks without taking the bikes out again.

Thanx for the tip Cobba.................

Im In For sure ....let us know the details ill be there:D:D:D:D:D
