OK, I've studied your pictures. Am I correct in assuming that if I buy a luggage rack mounted hard trunk 22" wide I will not be able to open the Leatherlykes due to clearance issues?

I'm buying a hard trunk primarily for use on the Victory, but would also like to be able to convert the Rocket from Bike Night solo to two up travel in 30 minutes or less. I was thinking I could just bolt on the passenger seat (3 bolts), take off my low puss' bar, put the rack on with the trunk already attached (4 bolts), pop on the Leatherlykes and be gone. Then I started looking at clearance issues and noticing how the Leatherlykes open....

If you get the chance could you take a look at your bike and give me your thoughts on fit? Looking at the pictures it looks like even a large T-Bag could cause problems.

Thanks.

I've run my bike with Leatherlykes and a 45 litre Givi top box with a backrest. Not an issue for me.
My experience exactly. These are the best bags for the money that are made. They look cool, are as effective as a rear crash bar (which you can't use with the Leatherlykes anyhow), and will serve as a ready cooler for a beverage of your choice if you need it!

Thank you for the feedback. Howard and TT, how far above the Triumph rack does the Give mounting system sit?

I am leaning towards the Leatherlykes because of price/removability. An interesting side note to choosing saddle bags is how the manufacturers rate their product's capacity. Hepco&Becker's smaller bags are listed as 19.3"Lx8.7Wx11.4H and claim a 30 liter capacity. Leatherlykes are listed as 20x9x12.5, or slightly larger in other words, yet claim only a 23.75 liter (25qt) capacity. Makes it hard to choose sight unseen.

Thanks again.

I don't have a Triumph rack. I made my own brackets for the top box using the standard Givi rack. It works out nicely and provides a backrest for the missus when she's not riding her Sprint

Yep, I thought you probably had done it yourself. I know when I talked to the Givi rep at the Seattle IMS he said that's what the Rocket owners were having to do. I just assumed it ended up higher than the stock rack location which is fairly low as racks go. Normally low's the way to go for weight distribution, but it looked like a tight fit with the LLs.
Are you happy with the Givi quality and value? The opinions I've heard so far have ranged from very positive to very negative. My opinion so far is it seems like a lot of money for a trunk.
Thanks.

I've had the Givi bags on the Sprint for about 10 yrs and they are great. Waterproof (monsoon proof) easily detachable roomy and sturdy. I adapted the top box to the Rocket and though it doesn't have the same look as the Leatherlykes it does the job and 45 litres is huge.
My own 2 seater bagger for touring.
