Are Triumph Rockets reliable?

Mitch; The performance gain will be soooo big, you will not care if it gives you any problems. If you could keep HD running the R3 will be an ezzy pick. Plus you have two dealers close by in case there is need for service.
I think you quoted the wrong person . I already own a rocket 👍

Had a late 90's V6 Camaro with 5spd, T-Tops, and Trick Factory Stereo w/Sub. The Engine and Transmission were bulletproof, but the rear end and body were shoddy representing weeks of time in the shop. I didn't care, had a long-term service plan on it that included a loaner vehicle. Put just over 120k miles on and loved every minute.

When I traded the Camaro for a MustangGT (also with 5spd, Custom Sunroof, and Trick Stereo w/Sub) it was technically a superior vehicle but wouldn't put up with the few techinical issues it had. Even though I knew I wasn't being as patient, traded it for my first Toyota a couple years later. Just wasn't having fun like in the Chevy.

It's been the same with my Triumphs. The one I liked the best was a 95 Daytona 900. It was big, heavy, and rode like a tractor; but couldn't get enough of it - until it finally kicked over. It was later fully restored and now sits in a collector's showplace.

I'm sure you've been through similar experiences on other bikes, but felt it was good to share a Toy Story

My 2022 R3 GT 221 finally arrived after ordering in February. Goodbye Fat Boy, hello Rocket! I was able to ride 100-miles the first day. I’m not supposed to exceed 4k rpm for the first 300-miles but it was still a fantastic and comfortable ride. I’m looking forward to when I finish the 1k break-in period. Too bad premium gas is now $5.00/gal (FJB).

PS The MSRP increased from $24,600.00 USD to $25,000.00. The freight increased from $515.00 to $915.00. Naturally, the stealer couldn’t do anything about it. Let’s go Brandon!
Congratulations Ice! That's a great bike and worth the wait I'm sure. I had a 2016 Harley Road Glide Ultra and was looking to upgrade when they came out recently with the ST version with more power. But it had ugly grey paint and a 32,000 price tags so I looked for alternatives. Wanted a gold wing but they are not available, all sold out, at least around here. So I thought about how I loved how the Rocket 3 looked in red but red was so 2021. But I found a left over 2021 at a dealer about 3 hours away so I jumped on it. Emailed my local dealer about getting the one you got but he never responded. Anyway brought it home and initially was disappointed after a couple of short rides I noticed more vibration in the bars than my harley had (none after idle) and it didn't seem very powerful at lower RPMs. But after more time on it I've come around and it's smoothed out a bit. So now I'm adding things to it to make it more like the harley for long distance comfort and it's fun to mod it. BTW, they sold the 2021 to me for 20,000 well below MSRP so that was another plus. But I would have paid the higher price for the special edition you got if he had responded to my email. :)

Is yours an R or a GT? From the pic it looks like a GT but the pegs are in the mid location like the R. You got a great deal at $20k. The stealer wouldn’t come down on the 221 MSRP and was willing to walk away from the deal because he felt he could get 2k over MSRP. The reason I ordered a 221 was because I couldn’t get a GT in red. I just bit the bullet and paid the MSRP. Have a great and safe summer. 😎

It's an R... I added the passenger backrest so I could at a top case. I really wanted Red and the 2021 R was solid red. But I also have a Kawasaki ZH2 and wanted a sporty riding position to match. The Rocket is great for that, and the ZH2 feels less interesting now as the rocket is a great mix of the things that I appreciate... power, speed, handling, comfort, smooth shifting, fun. :)

I currently own both a 2019 HD Breakout and a 2019 HD Fatboy. Instead of spending $10k to upgrade to a Stage 4 kit, I put a deposit on a 2022 R3 GT 221 Model. After reading theses R3 forums I’m thinking I made a mistake. I live in a Chicago suburb with two Triumph dealers within 15-miles. Is it just because people with various problems are on these forums complaining about the R3 or are they unreliable. Does anyone ride a R3 without problems? I love the look and specs of the R3 but I don’t want a bike that’s going to spend most of the time in the shop. The 221 won’t be delivered until May 2022. Should I cancel the purchase and just stick with Harley?
My 05 R3 has been sitting in a shed for the past 10 years. My wife gave me the ultimatum this year of get rid of it or fix it. After some fluid changes and a lot of TLC and sweat equity. Its back and running. Took it out for 20 minutes the other day and she still rides like she did 10+ years ago.

At 3,500-miles my 221 R3 was running poorly and hesitating. I took it to the dealer but they didn’t find any codes. The next day it wouldn’t start at all. The screen was dead. I replaced the fob battery which was low but still no dash. The dealer came out and picked the bike up. Two days later they got it back running. It turns out that it was a loose ground wire. They also spent 2-hours updating all of the software. So far it’s back to normal. 😎 FJB 🖕🏻🇨🇳
