Are Triumph Rockets reliable?

I just assumed that it it required premium like my Harleys. I guess I’ll have to check the owners manual. Maybe I’ll try the mid grade 89 octane (USA) and save a few bucks
In the Chicago area it’s 90% Harley’s at the parties.

Harleys are great bikes for around town. Not so much on backroads. They can be a good touring bike unless you're aggressive and split traffic and enjoy quick acceleration to get in front of traffic. My 06 Street Bob was a fun bike to ride. I had a 95" kit and it was quick but at 75 mph when I hit the throttle it climbed relatively slow and didn't track well at higher speeds. Nice machine though.

Harley has had great marketing. We will see how they do as they actually have to compete without the allure of rebel bike any more.

Todays younger generation doesn't seem to care about motorcycles other than sport bikes. The above graph that 'Ieltal' graciously posted is correct. The problem is the graph was made in 1985. Those girls on the Pole for Harley Davidson riders are Grandma's in their 60's now.

Some Grandma’s still look good in their 60’s.

Update #2: On page 79 of the owners manual it states that 87 octane can be used. The dealer told me to use 91 octane premium. I guess if it doesn’t knock, then it’s okay to use. (If this Rocket‘s rocking, then don’t come a knocking.)

Welcome .
I think you will just find on these forums you see alot more because everyone is here . They are pretty reliable bikes from my experience . I owned a 2009 Rocket standard from new and put 70,000ks on it trouble free and now own a 2021 rocket 3R only put 6800ks on the new one so far but zero issues to date . Every make and model will have some issues on the forums but it's generally low percentage or recalled and sorted

Mitch; The performance gain will be soooo big, you will not care if it gives you any problems. If you could keep HD running the R3 will be an ezzy pick. Plus you have two dealers close by in case there is need for service.
