I just want my rocket fixed so I can get some ride in before the temp falls below freezing... I live in NYC.

Things that make for unpleasant riding experience are: hard suspension and burning-hot air blowing on my right foot
at moderate speed.

Both true. It is better to avoid city ride and wearing proper trousers is a must. Rear suspension is a little bit hard, front not that bad, but you should be able to adjust it and make it at least a little better.
