Anyone else want to protest helmet law?

:D

So, whats the next subject? Unions or capital punishment??????

I think we should try to incorporate both. That should provide for some fireworks.

Not that I'd be taking a side. I've done enough damage for this week.

I picked both because they go together strangely enough.
I dont think that you did any damage. Enlightening perspectives.;) I chose to wear a helmet because I do not want to be a burden for anyone. Other than that my faith keeps me safe.:D:D:D:D:D;) No lucky bells or priest blessings. Just pure faith.
I still want an answer to my question but I wont push.
Thank you for the entertainment. That was funny.

OK GUYS ITS LIKE THIS, IT SHOULD ALWAYS BE INDIVIDUAL CHOSE, NOT THE STATE, NOR THE GOVERNMENT. BUT IN SAYING THAT, THIS LAW IS ON THE TABLE AS WE SPEAK TO MAKE IT MANDITORY FOR KENTUCKY. I SAY BULL****! IM NOT LIKE ANYONE ELSE AN I SURE AS HELL DONT THINK THEY WANT TO BE LIKE ME, IF A STATE REQUIRES IT, SO BE IT, I WILL COMPLY. IF NOT THEN SCREW IT, ITS MY CHOICE AN MY LIFE WHICH IM PUTTING IN MY OWN HANDS! ENOUGH SAID!

According to the news report a helmet would have saved his life.

Helmets will obviously not save your life in all situations. But to choose not to wear one is not only foolish but is the epitome of selfishness. For the feeling of the 'wind in your hair' you may be choosing to sentence your loved ones to caring for a vegetable for the rest of your life, or the pain and suffering over your death. A very selfish choice in my opinion.

To chalk it up to fate or the choice of some mystical greater power is simply irresponsible. Sorry, but I feel rather strongly about the subject.

My thoughts are with his family.

Valid points .....agreed

But if your.... say over 25 ....your an adult and should be able to freely choose, its up to the individual as to how much they value their life and loved-ones, but IMHO everytime we climb on the steel horse we are taking a risk with or without the noggin-shield ;) I always wear one,

The state's laws doesn't bother me at all because I choose to wear a helmet. Especially after losing my dad to head trauma. My poor mom isnt happy with the idea of me having a motorcycle after loosing her husband and now maybe her only child.

I come from the sport bike crowd and going fast was a daily thing. We rode hard and at one point it seemed the bike was getting tires more than on the road. I decided that I need a bike with same power but more comfort. Even though I went with a "slower" bike I still wear my helmet. But like last weekend I saw motorcyclists wearing shorts and no shirts. A friend of mine told me of a guy he knew in Fla who fell off a sport bike after a lady pulled out in front of him. He didn't have one broke bone but died as the result of the server road rash he received. He was doing fair but he somehow turned for the worse.

I mean if a person wants to die sooner than others because "It's to hot!" that's fine with me... that's their choice. If they like to be picked and prodded on by doctors... have at it. I prefer to "Dress for the slide not for the ride!".

"Dress for the slide not for the ride!"????????????????

Ok i was gonna shut up, and let it go, but that's the dumbest **** thing I ever heard. I think I am about done on the site. I just can't get there from here? It's been fun interacting with right-wing, left-wing, patriotic, libertarians, atheistic, Christians, and pagans... Most of the time I can just say yep, but "Dress for the slide not for the ride!" really, I mean really? Frac just home then, just stay home? Later I am done, really "Dress for the slide not for the ride!"????? LOL

Hell it's been fun most of the time I have learned a lot, but I am finished.... I gotta go rent a parachute for the ride home " Dress for the fall not for the flight" then I will get to the airport and get into my nomex to " Dress for the Crash not for the ride home" When I get home I will put on my old bunker gear when I lay on the couch and watch TV because there could be a house fire, I better " Dress for the fire not for CSI" maybe take the boat out and wear scuba gear " Dress for the boat sinking not for fishing" ahhh crap what about when I go get a few beers at the ice house, hell might as well go in handcuffs,(hard to ride bike in handcuffs, I know never saw it coming?) man I am done wrong planet, or something ? I guess if your scared say your scared wow. Just sayin............see ya bye,

As much as I disagree with laws that infringe on personal freedoms, we're really all to blame. What have we done to prevent these laws from being enacted? How hard have we lobbied our legislators? Have we supported those running for office that agree with us, both with our time and our money?

I know I certainly haven't done enough. I suppose I find it easier to sit back and complain that to do something about the problem.

Oh, and see ya Hellwalker, trying to debate with people who have opinions that differ from your own is a truly exhausting experience.

Again like I said before, it's a privilege to ride/drive on government controlled property (Aka streets and highway). Thats how it always has been, and will always be. If you don't like it then buy a road and do what you want on it. You have no right to even be allowed to have a license. I don't think that means the government should go out of their way to abuse the road system, but most of the complaining on here is based around the idea you actually have rights that don't exist.

If a state thinks you should have to wear a helemet to operate a motorcycle on it's roads, then do it, don't and get ticketed, or move. Such a law is a lost cause in reality, since it's only going to save a few lives of people that didnt want to increase their chances or survival in the first place (Aka people that don't wear safety gear). Or you can boycott such laws, which is a lost cause since like I said before, you have no right to operate a vehicle on public roads.

Again like I said before I don't care what someone chooses to wear. I do know that the day you go down with no gear is the day you might have enough sense to think (Gee if I only had gear on). Or you will be dead and it won't matter. A guy at my work went down a few weeks ago, was road rashes to hell, swelling of the brain, and will never be the same. No gear on at all. Had the guy had a helmet and even a cheap pair of jeans and riding jacket he would have walked out of the hospital the same day.

Personally my life is worth something so I am not leaving my survival up to chance. If your willing to accept the risk of riding with no gear more power to you. Realize how fragile your body and brain actually are. It doesn't take much of a hit to your head to take you out. Swing a hammer at your head with no helmet, 1 hit you have a fractured skull and serious problems. Even a $100 helmet on your head will keep your skull in one place.
