Anybody ride a new thunderbird yet

They will sound great if you get the right pipes on it. Shadows always sounded funny to me with aftermarket pipes then I realized that with a sport bike type muffler it would sound like a Duc, with the typical Harley type pipes that are available on the aftermarket they just don't sound right (to me). I wish the pipe companies would stop trying to chase the potato and use a proper muffler to get a good performance twin sound but I may be a small demographic in the cruiser crowd with what I like.

I also love the sound of a 360 degree twin especially with long drag pipes like my brother's '74 Bonnie chopper, it sounds fantastic!

What's the T'Bird's claimed BHP in the USA? Here, they are talking about 86 (due to leaner than lean EUR3 compliance?) , which ain't many IMO. Jamie.

vibration

The reason I quit riding the old Tiger was because the vibration caused chronic prostititus. No kidding. I had the crank balanced twice and it seemed to be worse every time I got it back together. (I ment the motorcycle crank to you pervs:p)

I wonder if an unbalanced crank causes chronic prostituteis?
Or maybe it's the other way around!

US figures are the same, Jamie. The early press releases were all predicting 100 bhp. It does claim 108 ft-lbs of torque. at the low rpms it will turn, that might be the telling number.

Gibe

Hi Wilb. 86 ponies out of 1600cc's is terminally pitiful IMO. Around 50 ponies per liter. Econocar league, diesel's and Korean's included, which offer as much usable torque if not more, for the old lady's daily drive to the local fridge replenishment mission.

Granted, the darn "thing" looks decent. But IMO it won't cause Harley riders --Triumph's strategic target or bet, I read somewhere-- to get their tattooes erased for a 10 HP increment over Harley's venerable, big-bore V-twin's

Jamie ;)

If I didn't know then what I know now (and I didn't), I would probably have bought the T Bird had it been available when I traded in my America. The Roc was pretty intimadating at first glance. That being said, I'm glad I wound up with the Rocket. Kind of spoils you though, where do you go from here? I know there are more comfortable bikes and there are faster bikes, but I doubt there is a more comfortable fast bike.
