Any Tricks to Removing Locked Fuel Cap?

Locksmith is the only answer. I think locking fuel caps are the dumbest thing in the world, I never take the keys out of my ignition, even. Who the hell is stealing gas from a motorcycle that probably has 4 gallons if lucky, I just don't get it. My BMWs have them, I say " **** Germans" every time have to unlock them.

If you have to lock your house or your car, you're living in the wrong place

After 5 years to get bike road worthy after getting your key situation sorted I would suggest you open that up, check lines, change fuel filter atleast

heck i sold @mexican a bike that dont use a key.

I'd have to agree; I asked the Triumph Shop if there was an option to go with a cap w/ out a lock and they said no.. But I'm sure I could find an aftermarket one..

I called like 6 Locksmiths in a 50 mile radius; none were willing to do it or even try.. one said he could probably do it, but didn't have any "blanks" to rekey it to, but then when asked if he could just get it off, and I'll worry about replacing it later, he stated he was jammed up with scheduled service calls for the next few weeks.. so I don't know if he was bull****ting about being able to do it or what as one excuse came after the other..

Agreed. I ended up just calling the closest Triumph Shop (2.5 hours away) and they are going to do the drill out of the current fuel tank lock, and then do a run through of cleaning out the lines, replacing any fluids/oils, and replacing the tires..

I drained the fuel before I set it aside.. but didn't think to drain anything else..

Bike sat outside in humid weather under a cover for all those years, so it has a bit of rust and pitting on pretty much all of the chrome plated stuff.. so that all will be replaced/repainted little by little over time..

I dropped a stack on a Honda Rebel 1100 a few months back; so at least I have something to ride while getting the big horse back in working order.

If you have not watched "the lock picking lawyer" then you need to start.
Quick videos 100% usefull no bs.
Where are you that you cant get a set of wave rakes within the week?

Take the tank off drain it, take it to locksmith
$20 done
This thread and the ridiculous solutions forcing a 4 or 6 pin lock that has no security pins in it is completely asinine.
Drill out the lock? Lol wth....
dont call brand locksmiths. You need to find a local ma and pa shop.

As I was out today filling her up... I did notice something. The only thing holding the inside of the lock is 2 Philip head screws. The fuel pump hole is huge. Maybe you can take the tank off drain it, flip it over and take the 2 screws off the inside of the cap... worth a shot
