Another tire option

Go and sign up to a high performance car forum and have a read about their tyre concerns....a mate has 600rwhp on a highly modified V8 and only gets about 20k km's out of a set of rears at $1k each. The fronts do a little better but for $/km that's comparable to most bike tyres.

Hummmmm

Just 600 HP that is not much for a High performance car...Not compared to a Rocket..

Do the HP to weight ratio and you will see what it takes to make a car and a Rocket equal.

I am not sure I would want a car that is a every day driver....with the same HP to Weight ratio as the Rocket

Mounted up a Cooper Zeon ZPT 245/50r 16 on my 2008 Rocket Std. Did it for sidecar use but of course I had to try riding darkside before hooking up the hack. Absolutely no slow speed handling! Keep wanting to fall back on the flat tread and go straight. Not bad at all on the highway though. With more time I could probably get use to the ackward feel of the tire and a narrower tire would most likely not behave so badly at slow speed. But for me and the riding that I do I will be going back to a motorcycle tire on my spare rim for non hack riding. Has about 1/4" or so clearance on the shaft drive side. I have taken it for several rides with no rubbing. Running with stock shocks. 2011_11030029 (320x240).jpg

I agree on the handling of a 245. That was the same tire I tried first too. The second DS was a 235 and a much better handling tire. I now have a 225 on the Roadster, and I can't tell much difference from a MC tire. Still have the 235 on the R3 standard. I bet those who ride a 205 have even better handling.

I sold an '06 Corvette to keep from putting tires on it at ~ $4k per set...of course it had 106,000 miles on it :D:D

Yeah it's only 500/tonne (a little better than the R3 in stock form) but it's a **** load for a 4.2lt/253ci daily driver

I put a car tire on mine, I just had to try it. I ended up dropping the air pressure to 25lbs to soften the edges. It does take a bit of effort to make a curve or corner as you feel the tire go up on it's edge. You also do not 'goose' the throttle when you are leaning to pass or take a corner... it will slip.(spooked the crap out of me the first time). My wife told me I may keep it on, wear the tread out, but I don't get to put another one on. I do love the look, though.

A new CT is slicker'n snot till it gets burned in. But, I have found it holds better than a Metz after that. As far as the percentage of darksiders, if the indication of RAA events is a good population to do stats, it is about 40 percent. It would be a good poll here on the forum.
