Mounted up a Cooper Zeon ZPT 245/50r 16 on my 2008 Rocket Std. Did it for sidecar use but of course I had to try riding darkside before hooking up the hack. Absolutely no slow speed handling! Keep wanting to fall back on the flat tread and go straight. Not bad at all on the highway though. With more time I could probably get use to the ackward feel of the tire and a narrower tire would most likely not behave so badly at slow speed. But for me and the riding that I do I will be going back to a motorcycle tire on my spare rim for non hack riding. Has about 1/4" or so clearance on the shaft drive side. I have taken it for several rides with no rubbing. Running with stock shocks.

235/55R/16 Riken Raptor ZR automobile tire

I just installed a Riken Raptor ZR 235/55R/16 sipped tire on my 2006 rocket 3. $900.00 in one year for rear tires only is way too rich for my blood. The Riken was $97.00 and I love it. Corners great but a slow speed like you mentioned on uneven ground it likes to sway a bit so hold on firmly. I got used to it on the first 50 mile ride I took after installed it. So far I will do it again. Front tire is now a dunlop elite 3 and I really like it also but I have run them before. I had metzlers on both front and rear and they are good tires but the milage "REALLY SUCKS" Good luck with youre.

In January of this year I changed out both front and rear tires on my 08R3T.

At the time of change I recorded the mileage and had been thinking about it lately. To my surprise, I find I have just over 12,000 miles on both! And look at the tread left in the photos! I think this is fantastic as I only got 9,500 out of my original Metzlers. The front tire is a 150/80/16 Bridgestone Spitfire which has dual compounds for mileage and cornering.

The rear is a 195/60/16 Achilles 101 winter. The rear cost is well under $100.00 and the front a little over $100.00.

I am not a real aggressive rider but I have used it in the Georgia hills but mostly in Florida and they have never let me down…Might be worth consideration.

indeed worth consideration IF you want to put a C/T on the rear hub I do not know the percentage of c/t riders vs M/T riders on this forum but this is for C/T riders basically / BTW i cannot see myself putting C/T rubber on my ride and the cost is not a deciding factor

I agree, it is a personal choice, but I am also impressed with the front tire mileage as well as it is a MT

Must be somthing to the C/T, reading a lot about the conversion.
For me just can't imagen it. Neverthelessless I sure would try one to experiance the ride.

YES the fact that car tires last all those miles makes you wonder why they cant get the same from the MC tires

Basically...Harder car tire gets more mileage, but less traction, than a softer bike tire. And just maybe we ride your Rockets harder then we drive our cars.
