Another notch in the handlegrip

Nice one !! I can't quite remember how many years ago it was, maybe 4 or5 I used to get bagger magazine but they had a feature article about a harley with a 200 hp S&S custom built @ harley of Niagra Falls. Always wondered if it held together after the photo shoot. :whitstling:

That bike would be as much trouble to ride as it is to drive a top fuel funny car. It would be finicky as hell, and as unreliable as an Edsel...I'd much rather have a Carpenter R3...more power and all the reliability...but it probably sounded good...

Just took a 70 mile ride on the interstate. My best friend rides a R3 classic and I was on my R3T. I usually lead due to my buddy's weakness for speed and poor luck with Michigan's finest. Before we rode 2 miles we picked up 3 large bikes on our backside. I kept my left eye on the leed bike. Sure enough, here he came. We were running a steady 80 mph. Well, my friend kicked it in the a--. I did the same, and here all 3 followers came on. They tried, but you know the outcome. Was kinda fun for the first 1/8th of a mile...
The 3 bikes ended up at the bike night in Grand Rapids Fox Motorsports. All 3 were HD CVO's. The group were slightly miffed at being left behind by a pair of "foreign" cycles. They were educated fast.

When I see a bike ahead speeding, passing cagers, etc, I usually catch up and ride with. Because that's the way I enjoy riding and it's even more fun with a couple/few bikes doing it together. When I first got the Rocket I found that when I would catch up they would slow down. The Harley riders look at me as if I had just done nasty things to their daughter as I pass them. At first I really thought it was because the dual headlights made then think I was a cop. But even after seeing I'm no cop, they never pick their speed back up. I'm pretty sure there are some OK there but I haven't come across a Harley that can hang with my stock T bird.

Yesterday I I was heading south along the Bayou just casually passing cars staying about 10 mph above the posted speed, when I caught up with 2 bikes, a HD and a sport bike. The HD shortly pulled off, and the sport bike picked up the pace. I stayed behind him to the left as he passed a few cars. He kept passing faster and faster, checking his mirror to see if I was still there. As a line of cars was holding us up, I pulled along side and smiled and shook my finger to indicate that it was time to go fast. The next straight with no oncoming traffic we swung out, and when I heard him get on it, I came around him before he was all the way around the car. I hit 3rd and rolled to 130 but he was getting smaller in the mirror. I slowed down but he never tried to come up and ride with me anymore.

Now that there is just plain rude.
Anyone cruising over 80 on a Harley is to be commended! :p
I would let them pass and then keep pace, while using them as a police radar buffer.
After tiring of that, THEN GREASE THE $HIT OUTTA 'EM!!!

One of the reasons that I like riding my Enfield is that at least it gives the HDs a chance. The bad part though is that when you catch up to a group of them it is a little harder to get past them all in one go. :whitstling:
