Always thought my Rocket was a big bike until...

The 1090 adventure and 1290 SDR are two different animals and the R3 is still bigger than the sdr by a long shot! Those adventure bikes are as big as a horse and I would need a step ladder to get on one, I also think the r3 would feel faster than the 1090 while actual speed would be very close while the 1290 can walk away(on one wheel) from all but the fastest street bikes.
As for racing,my mostly stock R3 would pull to about 135 mph where it maxed out, my sdr in 5th gear at 135 mph hits the afterburners and pulls the front tire off the ground a few inches, kinda like warp's avatar lol.

Nose bleed seat height sux!

That's what's great about the Rocket, low seat height/center of gravity. Although it's 250 lbs heavier than my K1200GT, I dropped the **** K 3 times last year, no problem with the Rocket at all.

How do you like it? Long tourer?
Its a fun bike, pretty comfy on a long road trip but an animal in the dirt.
The rocket is faster and but the KTM can pull out tree stumps and easily send the front end skywards in 3rd gear. Takes getting used to the seat height because very few riders can put both feet down at once. had to get used to stopping and leaning the bike to one side. Once you are going the height doesn't matter cause you just pick your line and go - suspension travel is huge.

The KTM has a sticker saying dont exceed 100 mph- probably because of the knobby tires cause it will certainly run faster than that.

Hi Allan, I like the pipes on your Rocket, can you give me any info on them and where I could get a set?

The pipes are from Dave Platt-he make 2 types this is the longer one. The shorter one comes with his crossover, on the longer ones he sells it separately but it makes a huge difference to the performance of the bike ( see Ulf Penners video on the forum showing dyno results)

Basic Tuning Video).

The heat-shield is powder-coated and the inside of the cones are painted with a mat black hi heat spray tin (they get grubby there anyway so I painted it black)
Daves email is daveplatt.dp@googlemail.com

The carbon fibre trim is a small strip of 3m carbon fiber dinoc that holds up to the heat there really well
( been on for 10,000 km and is still perfect) but it wont work closer to the manifold as it gets too hot

Thats a great looking Roadster. Mine is getting a little tired, thinking of updating it while I wait for the 2020 Rocket III TFC. Do you have a list of the mods that you've made to that bike?

The pipes I recognize, the rest not so much.
