Just got good news, I purchased my used 2007 R3 in April of this year from a non Triumph dealership with 1600 miles on it. I went on a 200 mile ride earlier this week and the dreaded TPS issue suddenly started. Went to Manyunk Triumph here in Philly 3 days later and told them what the issue was. The service manager recognized me from being in the dealership many times to buy accessories, asked for the VIN # of my bike. He looked it up and I found out that my beast was still under warranty until 3/11 the previous owner bought the bike in March of 09. He immediately went online to Triumph and ordered the new TPS. He also offered to fix any throttle cable adjustments that are needed for free. The best part was he took my word for it because he never looked at my bike to see if he could repeat the problem. So you fellow rocketeers dealing with bad dealerships I feel sorry for you, but for us here in the Northeast we have a safe haven to go to.
I traded email with Buzz at Manyunk Triumph ... sounds like a good guy. I'll be going the extra distance next time to go there. I asked him about parts used for the 10k and his response was exactly how I felt about it. He said even though the valve cover gasket cost $34, he wouldn't do a service without one (stocks them too). If would be an embarrassment to charge $600 for a service and have it come back for a simple oil leak.
I totally agree with that statement.
My bike has now been at L&D 9 days for a stupid valve cover gasket.
I hear what your saying Hellfire, Buzz is a pretty cool guy. He goes out of his way to satisfy his customers. I just recently purchased a Triumph leather jacket from Manyunk, I was actually surprised on the quality of the leather and the protection it gives. As far as stocking parts for a small dealership they don't carry everything but always seem to have just what you need to get you back on the road.
