Well... I never had muck luck obtaining the optimum light throw; from the OEM lowbeams; even after the Eastern Beaver Headlight relay fix.
The OEM lights are still not as bright as I would like; so I normally use the high beams, and adjust that for optimum light throw.
The way I adjust them is to simply find a dark alley or street; and then have my wife sit on my bike while I reposition the headlamps for the best light throw, out in front of the bike, while it is running.
I also supplemented the OEM lights with M30 LED spotlights from Advmonster.com which help a great deal.
That's exactly how my dad taught me to aim my 68 Pontiac firebirds lights after I bought one in 1976. Not as technical though as I parked 15' back from the garage door and we adjusted them. I remember like it was yesterday. Good times.
On the subject of lights has anyone found a decent set up that can produce decent lights I have tried a couple of things and I am looking for something else just now any ideas folks.

I find my R3R lights, if the low beam is adjusted right the high beam is far to high, if I adjust the high beam for the best beam the low beam is just in front of the wheel.
I have heard this is pretty much the way it is.
