About to go Dark Side for first time

lift your bike in the air and run it 100 mph with the mc tire then do the same with the car tire you better have plenty of room for the expansion the car tire has.
so if that tire raises up 2 or more inches it would be no wonder that it might get bumpy.

Now, that is something i never heard before and never tought about, it does make sense
 
forget about what i said if that tire grows it will take out the wires on the tail light!
I guess for the tire to do that i would have to be going at least 125mph, who in the right mind would run that fast??:eek::eek::whitstling:
 
I'm ready, the evil forces have beckoned me.... I'm about to order my tire, I'm looking at the General G-MAX A/S 03 (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...R6GMAS03&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes) Has anyone tried it, correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that 225/55 is the best size to go with.....ANY AND ALL INPUT WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED
The size is the same as the Goodyear I'm running. Indy 500 Wide Oval and it has a much better ride than the Riken Raptor I had before. Got 24K miles on the raptor before it started drifting often. The only problem I've had is getting it mounted. The newer rims with a recess for getting the bead over the edge is needed. With the steel cable bead t he tire won't stretch over the older rims without the recess. The steel cable broke on one during mounting.
 
So I need to buy new tires for my '13 R3R and I am trying to read up on all the DS topics and tires to convince myself to make this swap. My concern is around how the bike will track on rough roads, across tracks, general uneven surfaces. Texas roads are pretty bad now after the last few winters.

Right now I am looking at about $500 for a new set of tires. If I DS that drops to about $300. TBH this is a cost decision for me. The local shop will mount it but will not test ride if I bring it in for service.

I will either use the General or the Goodyear you guys listed.

Convince me this is a good swap.
 
It works for me, your results may vary. If you don't try it you'll never know.
 
I've been running DS for about 7 years. I've had my bike to about 135mph. Never had an issue with vibration.
The wider tire does throw your center of gravity off... Therefore you have an odd lean on roads that are not flat. At speed I do not have an issue with tracking, bumps etc. Now slow maneuvering can be tricky. It will throw you off balance if you are not ready for it. I originally ran a 245/50...i was killing front tires too often. I now run a 225/50, I have not had the front tire wear issue since.

I need to get both front and rear tires. Is there a preferred front to team with the DS rear?

And is the general consensus that the General and the Goodyear are both top choices? The Ryken (sp?) are not readily available as the others.
