About OZ - This surprised me.

Much of the rest is what they refer to as the "outback", I reckon. Road Warrior territory, for sure!
 
The gargantuan difference in land mass is just astounding to me!
 
this is probably a more accurate map for you Steve as it show how the population thins out in to the country areas or as some would call "the outback"

So you are in a 100 or more/square km area?
We have our desolate areas as well, but nothing comparable to your outback.
 
yeah we probably have more inhospitable, unliveable areas .... well for any one in a right frame of mind

lol Yeah we live on the edges because the rest is just basically desert . Plenty of tourists don,t realize just how harsh it is and dont prepare with enough water and venture out in a $500 pos car they have purchased for the holiday . You dont want to break down with no water in the Australian outback you wont live for long
