A question about TFC and corrosion on fork leg bolts ?

Did you get bike wet frequently? Why are other bikes not looking like that?
How much would new bolts cost?

One reason I try to keep avoiding water on mine. Only once so far caught in the rain.

Easier to do in AZ, except in Monsoon season. I try to not get rained on, but up in New England the weather can be unpredictable at times. Wife and I went out in August on a nice sunny day with no rain in the forecast. Got rained on out of the blue when heading home, she was not happy.

On my 2016 Roadster, I have been replacing nuts and bolts as they corrode with stainless fasteners. It annoys me that we don't see more use of stainless on vehicles which are entirely exposed to the elements.

are you sure these are not just water spots because of "hard" water being used when washing? Using some white vinegar could solve that.
If autosol metal polish won't move it i doubt white vinegar will but am up for anything so will give it a go. I would gladly fit it out with stainless lke ARP which is what i fitted my entire V8 chopper with but just dont really want to alter the standard bike.

I think the annoyance is from my point of view is its a year old low mileage been looked after and this shouldnt happen regardless of rain or anything else for that matter. As it happens it hasnt been in the rain salted roads or any such thing.

When all said and done its a motorbike it should be able to stand a zero PH wash. I will inevitably buy the bolts which I am sure will not be cheap just think Triumph should sort it as it is marketed as a premium product. I have a CBR honda 1000 and that is three years old sees rain gets cleaned the same and no such issues.

Evening folks a Question.
I have been cleaning the bike and noticed that some of the bolts have corroded. They only look like cadmium of zinc plate but a white residue has formed. Particularly the three each side holding the fork leg in the bottom yolk and the engine mounting bolts( the fancy ones)

They will not clean up as the coating is too far gone.

I have tried claiming from triumph dealer under warranty. The dealer got told to tell me to clean them. I have escalated it to the next level and have received the same reply.

The bike is immaculate apart from the bolts and has been cleaned with 0 PH snow foam so I think it is in my opinion cheap shoddy bolts.

Is it just me???
Anyone else have this problem??

Can we as a forum take collective action???

Cheers Jerry
I am 77 years old, riding for 60 of those years and have had sooo many bikes! (Maybe 30+) Whenever I've encountered corrosion problems with bolts, I've replaced them with the highest quality (expensive) Stainless Steel items I could find! I had a Custom Boss Hoss into which I poured a small fortune in SS bolts and nuts.
I now have two bikes; 2021 R3GT and a 2019 Ducati X Diavel S both of which are garaged and never used in rain. If any bolts show signs of corrosion... SS...high quality bolts which can be found on line easily.

Take your point did the same on my V8 chopper loved the 12 point style ones but want to keep the bike standard as its a TFC

Those bolts and nuts look like they would polish up nicely with a buffing tool and elbow grease. You may have to remove each individually to clean up though since some are recessed.

Same when I lived in Florida. Soo annoying.

Just moved from Miami, FL to Tucson... those two Miami years (and the prior 2 years in Shreveport, LA) caused a lot of this on all my bikes, I assume, due to the high humidity. I'm hoping the lower humidity here will end this problem for me...
