I don't think they ever go on sale. The price floats with the exchange rate of the Euro,
which is $1.07 Dollars per Euro at the moment.
It's been much higher in the past, more dollars per Euro.

At least if left "stainless" they can be easily massaged with a file and such if 'tested'. The 'black' is gorgeous; but would require further refurbishment needed in the same scenario. As I said earlier a couple of replaceable/sacrificial nylon pads at point of maximum recline would serve well.
