Gurus. Questions for the 2013 R3R:

1. Is a 15oz coolant overflow tank large enough?

2. Are there baffles or anything else in the crossover pipe? Trying to determine if it should be replaced with a Staintunes or Triumph aftermarket or just leave it alone...if I go with a set of TORs.

3. Can some tell me how wide the upper, side portion of the bear claw is (the part above the humps that connects to the gas tank)? I know it's wider at the front that thee the back but I just need a measurement in the middle area (say above the second hump).

Thanks for the help everyone.

15oz should be plenty. 10-18 seems pretty normal. Plenty of threads about it but here's a recent one. Remember the search function. http://www.r3owners.net/custom-mods/15314-coolant-overflow-bottle.html

There is some baffling inside that box and it is most likely more restrictive than the Staintune pipe. Not sure if anyone has actually measured the difference in output between the 2. I don't know but wouldn't be surprised if there was, say, more hp from the Staintune pipe but at the expense of torque. Maybe??? Opening up the exhaust isn't necessarily all positive and certainly not on its own.

About 11cm - 3 1/2 to the first ridge and a further 7 1/2 to the top.

I did some reading on the coolant overflow with the search function but just wanted some more opinions.

Regarding the crossover box,I was wondering if it'd be advantageous to replace it if I was doing the TORs pipes. At around $400 for aftermarket crossovers, the gains might not be worth it, even with the TORs.

Couldn't say, but at $400 it's not a lot of bang for a lot of bucks. Don't forget it's been designed to go with the Staintune pipes, which have a larger ID than TORs, so is probably a better investment with them. TORs were designed as a bolt on to the existing crossover. Without knowing the numbers, I'd logically conclude it's not really worth it with TORs although might give a small gain.

I have the full Stain Tune system on my Roadster, the change certainly did improve the performance some, but my main interest was the sound and it got better as I got more KMs on the mufflers.
The weight difference is amazing, I think the whole Stain Tune system would weigh as much as one stock muffler.
I did spend a bit of time tracking down the right tune but it was all worthwhile.

BigBlock,
I went through all this last fall after a couple thousand miles when my 2012 R3R was new. The collector is hollow. I saw clean through it and saw no baffles; therefor, in lieu of pissing away a ridiculous amount of money on the stainer, I kept it with my TORs. The sound is quiet for me; but, I have grown to enjoy the peace.

I went with PCV + AT, trips from Flipmeister and the coup de grace was the HansO tune. I couldn't have done this without all of HansO's help! It was a VERY noticeable improvement in power throughout the band, based upon my 50 year butt dyno experience. :D

I eventually plan on a 3 into 1; but, as yet have not seen one with a header that remains close to the engine like the stocker. I do long rides and do not wish to experience more heat at my right leg.

At the loss of some performance, I may just build something myself off of the stock header. I also wish to avoid lifting up of the muffler any more than necessary in order to maintain as much pannier room as possible. Ground clearance will be paramount in whatever I do.
Just my 2 cents . . .
