Just out of curiousity, how many people have a 2012 Rocket Touring with ABS in the United States? My dealer said that they were not sold in the states.

Yeah, you've really got a clueless dealer. How about filling out your Location in your preferences so we know where you are. Better still, who is the dealer?

This is the fourth bike I've bought from the dealer and have been very happy with them. I think there must have been some miscommunication although I thought I made it very clear that I wanted ABS. I called Triumph USA and was told that no 2012 Touring ABS bikes were imported to the US. The bikes that have been sold in the US were originally shipped to Canada and came down to US dealers individually. For some reason Triumph doesn't send R3 Touring with ABS to the US but they send them just about everywhere else. I told my dealer this morning that there are dealers in US that have them. They called me back 20 minutes later and told me they could get one for me but it would cost an additional 1400. They also offered me a used one for the same price that I paid for the 2011. I declined both offers and they are simply voiding the deal and giving me back my Tbird (which has ABS!).
But I did love my four hour ride on my Rocket on Sunday. Good thing I didn't have to slam on the brakes!

I too was looking for an ABS model for 3 years. The Triumph website for the entire world is controlled out of England. Depending on when you check it, it may say it has ABS, then it may change. Calling Triumph North America in Newnan Georgia is no help. They simply get online and check the website just like we do. Since the bikes haven't changed in 4 years, I always wanted the Red and Black, so I found an '08 and got it. I just put a CT Run flat on it to help with the stopping. Good luck.

If you grab a handful of brakes on any Rocket...ABS or non-ABS...you are still going to stop in a hurry. The deal with ABS is more control in slippery or wet conditions than you would have normally with a non-ABS bike.

Bottom line...if you had to stop...you would.

Here's the latest. When I realized I didn't buy the bike I thought I had, the dealer told me that there were no 2012s in the states. I told him that there were. He called me back 20 minutes later and said that he could get me one but it would be 1400 more. Now that I told him I was interested, he is telling me that it would be 3100 more. I'd say this is getting a little out of hand.

Ask them to gt one in for you to look at (and test ride)
Then
Tell em to PHUCK OFF
Give them the run arround - Bastards

I think it is time to drop that dealer like a fresh turd!

What he is doing is stupid at best, unethical at worst. I was fully prepared to drive as far as it took, in my case about 300+ miles, to get the bike and deal I wanted. Thankfully, the dealer here in town is knowledgeable, wants to work with you, and goes out of their way to make it work to everyone's advantage.

I am sure they feel they got a fair price and I didn't feel like I was just someone with money to spend when all was said and done. Too bad all dealers can't be like the one I use.
