For Sale 2010 Carpenter Racing R3R For Sale - Thread revival!

I took a trip from Massachusetts to check this bike out being sold on jump on and go bike trip costed me about $800 this thing is not what he makes it out to be brakes are shot fork seals are completely blown out neck bearings are gone check engine light on for throttle bank one wiring harness caked in mud I just about killed myself on this pos hit the brakes and almost went over the handlebars once they decided to work buyer beware and good luck
For perspective sake, Did you bring your complaints to the owner at the time? I can totally understand losing confidence in a seller if the product falls short of expectations. You had an R3 for 5 years and if you bought it new your expectations would be different from Grendel's who bought the bike used and may just be used to it? My point is I believe both of you.

Honestly I rattled the stuff off and hopped in the rental and left I wasn’t even mad till I seen he’s still was trying to pass it off as no issues I’m no mechanic but I can diagnose issues I’ve been ridding almost 20 year between and ridden everything from mopeds dirt bikes street bikes cruisers dual sports you name it I’ve ridden it dudes a bull**** artist like I said buyer beware to the right guy that’s going to do the work themself it’s still a decent price for a carpenter bike but another issue is he says it’s a 240 kit but no paperwork to prove it the bike does have carpenter engraved so it’s at least got the 205 kit in it I ended up picking up a 2018 roadster with only 4200 miles so I’m good I’ll just send this one to carpenter

Hey Steve!

Thank you for your perspective; it is a very reasonable point of view.

I think he believes what he is saying too. After all, he made a long drive and decided not to take the bike, so he had to believe it. Which is why I took the bike to one of the best known mechanics in the area, because I didn't think anything was wrong with the bike, but what if I was wrong?
Now, if you go to a mechanic and say "Hey, go over the bike and see if there is anything wrong with it, especially the brakes and forks. I want to sell the bike and want to make sure it is ready to go.", that is a perfect opportunity for that shop to bleed my wallet. But instead, he said that the bike was fine and good to go. Thankfully, he is an honest mechanic.

So I do think he believes it. He was just wrong.

My R3 had a blown fork seal coat my front brakes and I never noticed! I brought the bike in for the 20k service, choosing to push the 10k valve ck to 20, and the service writer came walked me back there and showed me the mess! I bought the bike used and just thought the suspension was a pos for a big heavy bike. At +100 mph the thing couldn't hold a line, it used 6-8' of asphalt trying to go strait and I just thought good ole triumph quality, I got what I paid for, lol.

Haha! I’m glad they spotted it for you and you stayed safe!

What did this bike run you? If you don't mind me asking?

Idk about him, but my Touring new was 16,999 and I'm sure I put $13,000 into it. (Carpenter engine, transmission, intake and exhaust, and some miscellaneous goodies)

Hi All!

I am reviving this thread as I am putting the Rocket up for sale this year. All of the information below still holds and I just don't have the ability to ride the beast at this time, so I am letting it go to a good home. The bike has just been to the shop and had a fresh oil change, new battery, fluids checked, brakes checked, and is ready to go!

I thought I would post it here first before I put it up on CycleTrader, so let me know if you are interested.

Asking 9,800.00 OBO. Clear title in hand.

Hello All!

Unfortunately it has come time for me to part with the Rocket. This bike has the Carpenter Racing 240HP engine and Exhaust and more carbon fiber than you can shake a stick at. The original owner - I am the 2nd owner since 2013 - said the carbon fiber shaved off about 200 lbs, though I have never weighed the bike.

Rockets are rare on their own, and Carpenter Rockets even more so, but I can honestly say that I have never seen another bike that looks like this one, so if you like being unique, this could be the bike for you!

The bike has low miles (approximately 17,250) and runs great; so much power! This is the best sounding motorcycle I have ever heard and it is a blast to ride and very comfortable, even for all day rides. The tires still have good tread.

There is a superficial scuff on the bottom outside of the the exhaust pipe, which you can see if you look close at the pictures.

I am happy to answer any questions and provide any additional pictures as requested. Shipping or pickup is the buyer's responsibility, but I am happy to assist however I can.

The Rocket is located in Boone North Carolina.

Thank you for your interest!

I am currently located in St. Louis, MO but I will be out there in NC in the second week of September for a remembrance ride for all of our 201 USMC Recon and USMC SOF Raiders we have lost in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. If you still have it I would give my left you know what for a chance to come see and hopefully buy that beautiful beast Smaug you have there. If anyone is interested in the remembrance ride, I will upload it when the forum lets me, but here are the dates: Sept 9:Camp Lejeune to Arlington Sept 10: Arlington to Camp Lejeune
