2008 rocket 3 classic
Will all 2005 rockets have the problems that have plagued some of them?

Frank

My 2005 has had no problems in life. I bought it used with 7500 miles.
The guy scraped the bottom of the pipes a couple of times. I'm guessing a curb damage fall.

Other than the tires SUCK.
It sat for a while before I bought it (I'm guessing 2 years) and they had to clean and coat the tank and replace the fuel pump. Minor tune up.
I've done the 10K valve check and maintenance. No issues.
I'll glorp the spline on the shaft with a new tire.

Strong powerful and reliable after a new battery (oem was 6 years).

Well, I have heard that there was a problem with 2nd gear and the timing chain pulley. Was this just for certain vin numbers?

Thanks
Frank

Yes. I had an 05 but sold it for one reason of another. I am going to buy another rocket but I don't really like the looks of the roadster. Really liked the red 05 and would like another but I am leary about the problems they have had.

If you buy a 05 now, any problems would have shown by now, I would think.

I have an 05 with 27,000 miles and no problems. I've purchased a Touring model and am now looking to sell my 2005 standard if you're interested. If you read of all the problems some have had you'll probably run as far away as possible. But I also think they must be ramdom. It seems the majority of us have had no problems and most don't baby them.

I'd agree that the random failures are there, but I would strongly suspect that the failures should have surfaced by now.
You could buy something else but never have the fun of a Rocket.
Also consider other years
I have a 05, and a friend just picked up a 06 for a few dollars more and it seems sound.

My 05 has over 46K miles with the only problem being the rider. The output shaft bearings etc. had issues due to factory installation of the bearing backwards (I think they re-calibrated that dude). If any 05 has the upgrade kit installed then not to worry, if not, then not to worry (it won't need it). Go forth and find a clean bike and prosper.

I have around 70.000 klm on my 05 I bought new had all the factory upgrads done . like was siad if its an 05 its pprobly hade them done I would think any dealer would be able to look it up and tell you if they were done or not
