Well one of the fork seals is leaking and since the beast is due for a service I thought, might as well get Progressive Springs for the front at the same time. They arrived in record time (Thanks J&P Cycles, purchased on Tue 26/03 and arrived Mon 01/04, so less than a week USA to Oz).
Question...
Update: manufacturing glitch. I talked with someone at Progressive and after seeing my photos, they seemed pretty sure that's what happened. ***Read on if you are replacing springs or servicing forks.
I hope others will have better luck. I couldn't wait for a replacement, so I put the original...
Got a slight shimmy in the front and seem to have a little play when testing forks for play. Before I start, I need to get the proper tools so I need the sizes of the chrome top nut, locknut, and adjuster nut. Anyone want to share this with us? Also, any other guidance to make this maintenance...
Hello, I ordered Wilber fork springs part number 600-0404-02 for my '05 R3.
The on-line description states "For lowering 20 mm incl. reduction bushings"
My mechanic opened the box today to install them and says there are no bushings in the box and that the instructions aren't clear??
Has...
I'm getting ready to change the springs, seals, and oil in my '11 Roadster and thinking of getting the seal driver tool. I've seen the homemade versions, but figure with my luck I'll bugger a seal, spring a leak, and then have to rinse and repeat the whole job.
Question: what size tool do I...
Don't have access to my bike at the moment and wanted to do some shopping for mounts for the LED foglights I bought. Anyone have the OD measurement for the upper/outer fork tube?
Decided as I can't ride for a month or so while I recover from surgery, might as well do some upgrades.
Got out the manual and read through it and went what the heck??? Looked at the bike and lo and behold, no drain plugs on the lower sliders. Could understand that in a Roadster or such with...
Decided to upgrade the fork springs on my Roadster and with Progressive (the brand)
What is the fork oil capacity?.. concidering the Progressive's have more coils than the standard type.
So, one of my front forks got crunched in a recent crash.
It's the right-side outer tube.
Am I better trying to replace just the outer tube and rebuild the fork (sounds more than my ability), or, should I just get a whole in-one fork? $400 vs $1200 on bike bandit + labor.
Also, any issues...
After a nice ride yesterday I spent some time today doing other things and then turned my attention to the bike (2013 R3T). I found a broken plastic ring hanging out on my right fork tube. From looking at the manual I figured out it is the dust seal.
What is the consensus on riding for a bit...
For all you who have searched for fluid capacity for the R3 forks and found nothing. Here it is 19 to 20 oz.
I just changed fork seals and oil from the bottom by removing the dampner rod bolt, lowering the leg, replacing seals and refill from top. Use an impact so the rod doesn't move during...
Question for those that changed their own springs...
Can the Fork Leg Caps come off without the fork guts coming out? Does the upper circlip hold everything in?
My mechanic marred one of mine, looks like the wrench slipped and started to round out the hex. Thinking of replacing it.
Thanks

My service manual for the 2016 roadster tells me on page 24 under "general information - suspension" that the spec fork oil is Kayaba 01 (SAE0W).. Is that possible given that the common wisdom on the forum is that stock weight is 5? If stock is 5 I want to use 7 to slow damping but if its zero...
I'm about to change out the fork springs in my 2016 roadster and somebody told me that the frork springs in the 2016 roadster are already upgraded to progressive rate springs and that I will be wasting my money by swapping out for something I already have (progressive rate springs?).
I am doing...
