    OK. It was a relay. Mine are not in the right places. Apparently, I added one; probably when I installed the heated grips. The fuel pump relay is now hanging down by itself below the other three. I figured this out after I replaced the fuel pump. Confirmed my opinion that nothing is ever easy.

    I hope that's the answer. I'm going to look for a short and replace the fuse box. The fuse and fuse box were melted together. I had to drill the fuse out of its hole, so I can't tell what was going on with the connectors.
