I really need help, kind of an emergency

Can you get your hands on a voltage meter?

Dropped it -- yep -- Rockets like to hug the ground when you let them -- many of us "been there, done that."

If I can help --I could stop by. Otherwise, you could call a Jerr-Dan to transport the bike to Dulles. Being here, you are well aware you are in a high-cost area, and the dealer may stress the wallet -- but if you need them, you need them.

Well, thank you everyone. I think I have settled on trying to get it into Motorcycles of Dulles tomorrow when they're open. I'm expecting they'll have capacity to pick it up, or arrange for that, instead of my having to deal with multiple services. I had been planning on riding back on Wednesday, so *if* it gets handled by Wed morning, I can still ride it back. Otherwise it'll wait until I come back out in a couple of weeks. Will leave my riding gear at the office here so I don't have to schlep it onto airplanes.

Unfortunately, I don't have it in me to try and do this myself in a hotel parking lot with limited tools and equipment.

Definitely check your fuse box. There should be a spare 30 amp fuse. Guess why?

Also, if the fuse is not sitting tightly in its mounts then it may not work correctly. You can pry the mounts a little tighter together if that is the problem - or fatten the legs with a dab of solder. In the olden days a bit of metallic paper from a cigarette packet would have made a nice shim.
